I've been with Whole Foods for 16 years. Recently I've been hearing rumors that Amazon might offer severance packages/Layoffs to the older, over 45 group of team members with lots of service hours. This seems to make business sense at least, older employees are more attached to the past systems, and are expensive as far a medical benefit use, and pay. Anyone else heard this rumor?

Not sure if 45 is 'old' by any measurement...
I can see this happening for two reasons-1)the long term employees who might be near salary caps cost the wage scale a bit.i think amazon is gonna to get our wages in line with most retail..say gopdbye to making more than 20$per hour..2)who remembers in the florida region when we haf installed this POAT test for all potential employees?? It was basically a physical and endurance test to weed out people who might get hurt or be un healthy and cost thw insurance policy money.amazon wants to cut costs and lower prices..
So the spending money of 45+ and their families have, Whole Foods Amazon doesn't want. What about AARP membees and their families money?
Yeapppppo!!!
45 years old qualifies one as older and outdated? Wow 😂
Simular to what they did with the sign makers - graphic artists a while back... Most famous occurrence was with the United States Post Office a while back. The package was offered to older postal workers. Its not aged based severance, its an optional "opt-out"
Liesssss !!!!
It's illegal to give severance based on age
Not true!
I sure do hope its true.
