Only negative comments so far but there is usually at least one who is granted his/her wish. Did you ask to be cut? Did you get a package for retiring?

Hoping to hang in for another two years, then package out to reach an early retirement. That's my plan anyway but we are at the mercy of some executives whims so we'll see

In your case I would not trust your manager. Keep it to yourself
Would love to get a package but scared to offer. Once they know you would like to retire what incentive to offer severance is there for them. If you just retire less money out for bank. I would get a year of severance pay and then would almost be to age I could draw on 401k without penalty. If I really trusted my manager I would offer but I don't know my manager well enough.
