Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Market Team Leadership-Grocery/Whole body/Specialty

How are you guys handling this ridiculous position? I am a Market TL and there is absolutely NO TIME to get anything done. OTS, KPI's, regional BS like having to do our own resets. I cannot be the only one struggling.

Severences are off the table except for what they are currently offering to team members absorbed from store closings last year. Don’t wait for severence if you are miserable. Start seeing what else is out there.

So you DID come here to ridicule. Thanks for your transparency. Many buyer jobs are automated especially when people realize how much attention to detail is skipped when one person has too many lines. Domo origato.

Yeah if you don’t like it leave. So much for the concept of the voting system. Isn’t having an opinion the point? When there is a flaw in the system, run away or you’re haters? Also 8k, maybe you should be focusing on your own job?

Over 8000 lines for a multimillion dollar company. 80k is scraps compared to the senior buyer

In my region they combined several stores and it has proven to be a disaster. So much so that they are going back to splitting teams. Most of the prep foods team leaders struggled with the concept of bakery, but those teams were pretty solid so it did work well. Meat and seafood was the worst. Apparently the meat coordinator disliked seafood and their coordinator so had it out for the seafood guys. In the end it is another horrible decision on the part of Whole Foods.

80k... sitting around squawking on a board and awaiting replies that don’t affect you is strange. The other thing is $80,000 a year as a buyer… So you were saying this can’t be automated? I hope your career board doesn’t have one of its own in which people are so glad they escaped and are looking down on you pitifully for staying one day. Have you actually been on a job website? Are you aware there are tons of scams concerning people that are simply looking for a new job? If you were so happy, go be happy. It isnt inspirational. I’m not sure why any buyer would make that much money unless they have an auto bot buying purchases and price-gouging consumers. Ick. Maybe right now people on your board complaining about how overpaid you are Because it sounds like you are definitely being paid too much money for something I could be done by a robot.

Buyers? How about team members? I knew 5 team members on one team that made more than TL. Whole foods is a joke

It’s messed up when buyers make more than these big tri-team leaders. If labor is am issue, then I think a pay restructuring is necessary. ATL’s shouldn’t make more than Tl’s either. Some stay in roles and block these positions for years.

Whole foods inspired me to shake off the hippy filth and make something out of myself. My new job is something I TOOK. I didnt wait for a hand out like these stoner bums that will soon get a pay cut or end up in the unemployment line because they waited to long to use the whole foods brand on their resume when it still had an ounce of credit. Time? That I have plenty of as now I am in rush hour every day like most office workers. Thats the trade off for a real job.

80k a year folks usually have better things to do than brag and attempt to drag folks down that don't make as much. You're probably a recently fired zit popping 20 something who talks out his butthole. At least you cannot afford a nice p--n collection for your lonely self.

If you need other people’s misfortunes to make yourself feel better or “lucky”, well then that saids a whole lot about the caliber of low life scum you are despite your $80k salary, money can’t buy class, and some folks are so poor all they have is money, especially those trolling a sight to feel better about themselves over others misery, jerk.

I make 80k as a buyer outside WFM. Sitting at a desk doing 1/3 of the work of an OTS buyer does. I come here to remind myself how lucky I am not to be you

Yeah, I'm waiting around until at least they make the "big announcements" in February to see what else is going to happen. Hoping for that severance! I'm at $22 running 3 teams.

I think everyday that this could be it for me. I mean, I want to quit. I want to find something else. I'm afraid if I quit I will miss out on a severance package and that would s---!

Sounds like they are taking advantage of you. I did what I would do when someone is clearly trying to use me. Some people take the abuse, others don't. It depends on your self worth. Is it worth it to you at the end of the day and in the big scheme of things? Good luck either way because anyone still working for WF with the conditions I saw it in needs it! Take care.

By resigning, that’s how. My health and sanity is worth way more than the stress caused by WFM right now, it’s been a good run but it’s time to abandon ship.
