Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

The Sun Will Rise Again

Please share your happy stories about layoffs. Show others how everything happens for a reason and that a layoff is not the end of the world. It is sometimes just a bump on the road to happiness.

My sympathies to all those impacted by layoffs. Just know that tomorrow the sun will rise again.

I was laid off from the BAC Home Loans in 2015 as part of a major downsizing after working at the company for 10 years. Fortunately, I saved up quite a bit of my income and my performance bonuses years before the layoff so I landed softly.

My Executive gave me a 45 day advance notice of the layoff and I was offered the opportunity to transition to another role (lateral) within the bank that I turned down. After leaving I took an entire year off from work to travel and smell the roses.

The Bank culture had poisoned my spirit over the year. After the year away from the workforce, I began working at another company to which I have been there now for 2 years. Truly I can say that leaving the Bank was the best thing for my career. I am making 40% more than I was as a BAC “VP” and no longer have the feeling of loyalty to any company.

Go where you feel beneficial. And when you no longer feel that way, move on.

My BP went from 170/100 to 135/75. May have died if I had stayed there.

Best thing that ever happened after being there 20+ years. Never looked back.
