Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Laid off former employees & MyWork employees + posting

Our team posted a Project Manager role. The 100+ applicants were whittled down to a short list of 18. I was asked to review them and give my manager feedback. He told me he wouldn't consider anyone on the list who was laid off and reapplying and wouldn't consider anyone on the list who is MyWork. That brought the short list down to 3 unqualified candidates. Several of the laid off were quite qualified. One person who is MyWork submitted copy of a written exception that her B2 leader had signed off on allowing her to remain in the program (based on an elder care situation and the fact that she lives 75 miles away from a hub). My manager said our B2 doesn't have to honor it and won't. Now we are starting all over again and reposting the job. Where is the "operational excellence" in this?

@9mxu

That's a good thing.

Be thankful

I was told that it’s impossible to get rehired once fully laid off (ie after severance is over). It requires special approvals and no one actually lets them back in

Knowing how cheap they are they may hire some of the recently laid off employees as strippers. Obviously, the unattractive ones since they are cheaper (they may be more fun tho)

@1mag

How about asking for strippers twice a week as a sign up bonus. That will be pretty competitive.

The bank may even attract employees from FB, GOOG, AMZN, TSLA, AAPL, etc.

I was laid off and am employed full time at another company. The bank has come back to me twice so far with new opportunities and they seem genuinely befuddled why I won't consider returning. They are not the only game in town and now that they have laid off a significant population of qualified resources and are struggling to get the work done with the remaining kiss a$$ managers, they are going after the resources let go who were actually productive. No thank you, not interested in returning to a toxic environment with back stabbing and dim witted managers.

So much for hiring the most qualified candidates...and we wonder why we need such a large legal department?

I was told "we don't want to be bothered" with MyWork people. Setting MyWork aside, I hope those who have been laid off are not counting on getting any kind of "priority" over any others.

Could the my work be hired if they exited the program?
