Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

How many?

How many suppliers are we losing due to the Prime discount crap?

Will there be any of those that actually matter left in the end?

Or are we going to be only carrying the generic brands like every other grocery store out there?

I guess Amazon is finally showing its true intent with us...

Leadersh!t was bad way before 2014 if you had decent leadership up until 2014 you are lucky.

All the best people started leaving in my region when the amazing regional grocery buyer asked for help from RLT and didn't get it, that was in 2014. Longtime seafood guy was ran out of the building this year, after his doctor recommended he take some time off for health reasons. When you expand too quickly, as WFM did, we are left with mediocre leadership in stores, facilities, regions and yes, at global! The same tired tech & the self same misogynists who are still steering my region to the middle of the pack. Not sure what Amazon is waiting for...other than prime deals and PN items kept secret, although no one in my region can keep a secret.

I've turned away about 300 customers that were looking for batteries. Every supermarket has them except WFM. Need AAAs for your remote? Too bad!

it’s the lack of those brands that make wfm a niche store and hold them back from truly competing with the other stores. Ppl want to be able to get organic eggs AND a bottle of Coca Cola and aspirin. Big changes need to happen all around. The laid back hippy safe haven days are over. Thank goodness.

Oh come on we need that guy so he can put the same items on sale every sale cycle. Just need alternate hummus brand sale every two weeks. I dont see the need for all these people if every region will carry the same stuff they really only need people for local items. The buy ins they get could be automated for company wife items.

The worst is the NA regional buyer, who brought in tons of crap and no one could ever get in touch with him. All these regional idiots need to go! Cmon Amazon shake things up! Yes, OTS s---s, what a waste of. Labor hours and paper! With all those stupid clip boards,

@U1RzGXF-kyk I agree, especially Walter Robb. He really ran us into the ground. We are Amazon now and I can only hope they will get rid of global and regional hacks and replace them with talented people. We still have a few good ones left that didn't run when these changes came but the bad ones do need to go. OTS and SOP is an issue as well. Some of it is very good but a lot of it is so over the top and makes you wonder are they really using it to fire people or force them to quit out of frustration. First thing that needs to go is all those dmn clipboards and inspections. We don't have enough labor for that garbage. Get rid of "unique or fad" products and bring back the staples people love and expect to be able to buy at WFM. That would help with the force out of short dated sht items that didn't sell. The resets s---, paper products, dogfood and baby food in the front isles and all the best selling stuff in the back??? I also would mind seeing a dedicated "dirty Isle" to keep our shoppers in our stores. C'mon Amazon step in and help us out, but not like you do your warehouses. Remember, people want to be pampered and guest service is what we used to do and what really set us apart from our competitors. We don't need to be tripping over each other but we went to far the other way and can't do the work and help the guest the way we used to.

Allot of the smaller vendors products didn’t move well anyway. Regional idiots brining in “unique” items like vegetable yogurt 🤮. It’s a bussiness the hippie crap is all just a show anyway the core values are a joke. JM was so out of touch with what a sh!tshow his company had become. He allowed his friends to run WF into the ground and made it so they had to sell.
