LabCorp had layoffs in Central NY today; both at their Syracuse and Utica locations. Rumor has it that it is supposed to be the start of a nation-wide layoff? Can anyone confirm?

LabCorp layoffs in MN today 50+
I heard that the company is trying to "fix" their Q4 balance sheet to keep their investors happy. Supposedly, the company is now also penalizing employees with family health insurance plans if a working spouse could get coverage at their employer. I guess this is legal under the Affordable Care Act, but reeks of an underhanded move to "prettify" their balance sheet.
Yet another company that does not realize that without happy employees there is no amount of fiscal trickery to improve the bottom line in the long run. Yes, their stock has been on a downward trend since summer, but it has also been steadily increasing in value over many more years. Temporary recessions in price are to be expected, but should not warrant the employee-related actions they have taken as of late.
This is true. My wife was laid off in that group of 50.
