Thread regarding Academy Sports & Outdoors layoffs

ok so my full post didn't come through and man, it was so clever and witty....so basically look up the demise of TSA and you'll understand there's nothing random about Academy "not doing well". You can predict each move...it's the same leveraged buyout drill. Read up.

ASO is not "randomly" not doing well....IT'S NOT DOING WELL. There's no "random" about it. If you've been in retail any length of time you know the drill: 1) start churning fat & happy....all debt is on ASO...acquistion or insolvency. But yeah, it's random

And no, it is not high school to warn (just like you have stated here) of the atmosphere at ASO. I did not date or screw this guy, as I have stated multiple times. Also, the moderators of this site don’t have an issue with my posts. Just seems to be you! So if the moderators don’t take issue, you are the one making up rules.

As I have stated multiple times, I have way more to be mad about than just the guy issue, and I stated all my reasons. Most of the reasons are all relevant to why this place is a sinking ship, yet you only focus on the one thing I said. You are probably one of the people who gets by on popularity there and tries to kiss a** or make others look bad to get ahead. In fact, I am sure of it. So you are high school, not me.

Get over yourself. Just because you don’t like what I have to say doesn’t make it unworthy of saying. It is a free site and anyone can say what they want. If you don’t like it, then stop coming here or keep scrolling!

As many have pointed out, you indulged in an office romance that turned sour when try guy dumped or mistreated you. Then you come here and whined about him mistreating you. If that is not typical high school behavior then what is? Plenty of working professionals lose their jobs for legit layoff reasons not at all due to their fault but dismal sales or company performance. This is a forum to discuss about what is really going on, what to look out for and a place to warn potential employees about joining a sinking ship that somehow still manages to pretend it isn't. This is not a high school b--ch session board. No one cares to hear about how your office romance turned sour. Grow up and learn that the first rule to being a professional is not to screw your co worker because what happened to you is a classic reason as to why you stay away from office romance. You're there to work, not there to date or screw. And no need to call anyone mansplaining anything or even deem them as rude because they called you out for your immature behavior. This is just common sense. Now,iif you truly have legit info to share that benefits others about working or business conditions at ASO, then everyone would love to hear.

Good ole boys network for sure. The ones who replied with rude “high school girl” comments are the ones most likely in this group and fail to see that others have problems besides them. How you were treated was unfair and you were set up to fail from day one. Egos win over ethics at ASO, and HR backs them up. Be happy you are out of there; although, it is c-appy people at ASO are affecting your future employment by airing out things they should not.

I worked in corporate, so can’t speak to whether I am happy something is going down at the store level. I am probably more empathetic to the stores since they have to carry out the c-appy plans of corporate.

Our district manager just resigned.

Something is about to go down, or up, from a certain point of view.

There is literally one person I trust there and that is it. At this point, even the friends I thought I had can’t be trusted. Pretty sad that the unempathetic a-holes on here have the nerve to call me the high school girl (most of thd men there are whiney so point the finger back on yourself), and I have plenty of reasons to be angry, other than a guy I liked. I am well aware of what it is like to have anxiety about losing your job and did lose my job there. If you were treated half as poorly as I was, you would be angry at ASO, too. Try practicing the thought of putting yourself in someone’ else’s shoes instead of assuming.

Also, your warning signs that this company is going down the toilet have been there for well over a year. How many people have to leave or get let go? Instead of sitting around blaming your issues on market pressures and a failing company, why don’t you take action and leave? The company is failing and will file bankruptcy. It is not if, it is when. Plenty of signs have pointed to this for a while.

And the overall attitude of many employees that they deserve something they haven’t earned or when someone is awarded, they always have something negative to say.
