Greed has increasingly become a virtue among Wall Street bankers and corporate CEOs in the United States. Nowhere else in the world do CEOs insist on receiving compensation as high compared to what their employees earn.

Ask the board. They seem to think pay is justified. Are Harper and Machado worth half bilion each? Why is their pay more important. Swinging the bat is just as good as being at the top of a company and getting lucky the stock hits it's stride. no different

@tol So what did you choose to major in?
Only if your daddy bought you into the right schools...
Wall Street Banker complains about Wall Street Banker, what will they think of next.
Ah, the color of envy. Too bad Jim Henson is no longer with us. He did a great rendition of it's not easy being green.
Come on. The money that CEOs make is obscene but in the context of the big picture, it’s not even a teeny tiny blip on the radar. Not even close. The demand for lower expenses and higher profits is from shareholders. People want to make money on their money and if they don’t, they take it elsewhere. Pensions have to make money on their money in order to pay their obligations else they’ll take it elsewhere. WE demand it when we look at our 401k balance and get mad that it’s gone down in the last year. I am not justifying CEO pay or excusing the way this layoff is being managed, but don’t be so naive as to think it’s just about a man and a board.
You're free to apply for the job. It's a position of employment like any other.
