I've noticed that morale (at least in my office) has gone from bad to worse. Nobody engages in friendly chatter anymore, nobody laughs or even smiles - it's like a dark cloud has settled over us with no intention of moving on.
Is it just me or is this the case throughout the entire bank?
26 years with BOA with thinking is hard to get a job in mods 50s? That’s a myth, I just got a great job I’m 63 it came with a raise and more benefits....but I did not sit around think I was too old to get a new job....that’s where it all starts.
The big investors want you to leave so that the costs go down and they make more money if the stock maybe appreciates because of this. If getting the same amount of work done with fewer people seems like quite a concept, it is but what is the actual cost and who is paying for this. It's the customers that have to put up with poorer service and lower valued services at the same original prices and the employees that have a lousy work environment more responsibilities but with no increase in benefits. This is a type of wealth transfer that makes socialism look like a picnic and nirvana. Capitalism can correct this but only at an individual level as one understands their role in tandem with market forces.

When i left BOA, i went to another finance company. Where I was working, at the new company, was a manager that had previously been layed off at BOA. She was a good manager. She got a call from a friend of hers that was a hiring manager for a different company, who asked her if she knew of a person that was applying from BOA. She didn't know the person, but because she knew i worked at that specific location at BOA, she asked if i knew the person. I did, it was a higher level manager of mine. I told her, he was a di%k who backstabbed several people. She passed my opinion on and that manager wasn't hired at the company. Many times when a person is layed off, they go to a similar company, and can pass along their personal opinion of potential new hires. Karma.
morale is bad in other parts of the bank, too. there are a lot of bad apples in middle management engaging in micro-management, cronyism, outright discrimination, and far worse. the place is run like an immature, dysfunctional circus. it's a fear factory. the level of incompetence at the bank is actually quite astounding. you have to be with the "in" crowd, the right clique. if you aren't, then management will make your life miserable, using "quotas", psychological pressure, and bogus performance reviews to discriminate against you.
And we want to leave so that we can shower the hell out of BAC

I've been a BAC employee for 26 years. Turning 66 in December of this year and hallelujah!!!! I am DONE!!!!!
The last 12 years have been absolutely exhausting and some years it was consuming my life completely.Why have I tolerated it so long?....try getting a job when your in your mid 50's. THe part that really S---ED was that experience, dedication and truly giving a sh-- about doing a good job meant NOTHING. Good luck to all of you, get out of this pit as soon as you can.
