Based at Home

How much longer do based at home employees have before they get the boot?

What’s the ratio?

Seems like every week the corporate communications is telling me to “welcome” a new MD outside hire. Every time I see it I wonder how many experienced worker bees were given the boot to make room in the budget.

Explain this to me.

How is it I’m unable to work from home during the week taking remote calls from the office but Saturday nights I can be on a stupid resiliency call testing applications for six hours from home?

What can this place possibly offer now?

Other big banks pay a lot more and have more career opportunities. Layoffs also feel less common. Here I feel like they do it every month with February, May, August, and November being the bigger months (especially around Thanksgiving). Work/Life... — read more

How long before circumstances demand otherwise?

We have no plans to return to 5 days in office unless circumstances were to demand otherwise Don’t you all love how they give themselves an easy out? And it’s curious how the senior comittee on one hand states fluffy nonsense that positive... — read more

Agile Flex Office Requirements

Can anyone clarify what the situation is with employees who have the Agile Flex Arrangement? Hearing mixed messages, some saying they will be back 4 days a week office from September, but I don't see anything on MySource about this.

Remote staff gone by RTO date?

I’m on the People Team. I was told that as a remote worker, my job will be eliminated by the RTO date (4 days in office) in September. So there’s no incentive to work. Period. Yet I’m told I need to continue to work and do my job. RV has made this... — read more

Ex-employees from other banks

So many threads on here are from people complaining how much BNY has changed and how brutal the culture is now. It’s become very paranoid and impossible to think you have a long-career here, etc. Are there any colleagues who joined BNY from other... — read more

Next lay off coming?

Sooooo heard May and June is going to be the month of layoffs, thoughts? Do we have the dates??

Program Managers will make a comeback

BNY will soon realize we dont need so many scrum masters and train engineers. Technical program managers are so versatile and manage so much that even JPMC and other banks are hiring them at high levels. Naturally BNY is always 5 years behind so we... — read more

I actually like my India colleagues

I'm US based but I like my India colleagues. Every other comment seemed like it was complaining about offshoring but the vast majority I work with are great coworkers who happen to live with a god awful work culture.

This is the trap of corporate America today

If everyone walked out for a week, together, the higher ups would have no clue what to do. They can’t lay everyone off at once, the optics would look terrible, and they’d realize who has the upper hand. Unfortunately, the trap is that 95% of people... — read more

At what point do we finally say enough?

The pay hasn’t kept up for years, but the workload just keeps growing. Every time someone leaves, the rest of us have to pick up the slack - for the same shrinking paycheck. With prices shooting up, it feels like we’re just running in place. Why are... — read more

Zero Accountability

I absolutely would love to know how good it feels to be above a K grade where you can operate however you want with zero accountability. Global Payments is basically a free for all because the upper and middle management is an absolute s**t show!... — read more

I just need to hear something good for once

Between all the layoffs, RTO, and benefit cuts, it feels like we’re stuck in a doom loop. Anyone actually get a surprise bonus, decent raise, or even just proper staffing lately? I’d ki-l for one shred of proof that workplaces still care. Please... — read more

Everett location closing?

Keep hearing rumors that the Everett location will close by Dec 2025. It will su-k that all of us will have to commute to Boston.. has anyone heard anything?

Watching people quit right now is crazy

Layoffs have been happening all the time, they’re not stopping any time soon, and that means severance. Why would you walk away when you can make the company pay you to cut you? You’re just leaving money on the table. I’d never give them the easy way... — read more

Why are we still debating the purpose of RTO?

It’s an attrition strategy, just the latest in a long line. They’re always searching for new ways to cut headcount without paying for it. RTO is simply the newest. It was never about culture, collaboration, efficiency, or whatever convenient excuses... — read more

Meeting I was in.

I was in a meeting and told the remote people will be let go in May and everybody has to report to staff in the same location they are in so they’re going to be redoing the org charts so to speak so you’re reporting to somebody at your same... — read more

May cuts…

From a friend in the “People Team”. There’s another planned round of significant cuts in the Investment Management and Wealth Management businesses in May alongside some more in Pershing. Am not in those groups, but didn’t they just have a huge cut a... — read more

Negotiating separation pay, any pointers?

I wonder if anyone successfully negotiated their 2 weeks per work year deserved separation pay following fake pip and dismissal? I've been with BNY for 10 years with meets and above. Looks like BNY is giving me peanuts like 20% of that and asks to... — read more

How is that place still standing?

Seriously, how is anyone still surviving at that place? When I quit over a year ago, morale was already rock bottom. Now I hear they’re still pulling the same cr-p they did when I was there and then some. Anyone stuck there wanna confirm if it’s... — read more

Good Friday and Asset Servicing

The Good Friday holiday was taken away from us in the US once Juneteenth was added. A floating holiday was added instead. Why are the offshore teams in India (not sure about Poland) allowed to call it a company holiday and not work while us d-mb... — read more
