Any clues?
New England is hit pretty bad
lots of layoffs in several Offtap teams like OPM and ontap software etc. OnCommand Insight (OCI) is left untouched though.
Company has no leadership, axed developement team
"NetApp is transforming as a company to be more focused, efficient, and effective." This is crap they axed the Mars OS team which had developed a linux storage system and had sent version 2 to manufacturing the day that management cancelled the... — read more

Why Are So Many Junior Employees Being Laid Off for Transformation?
I found an odd coincidence, which may be nothing or a possible law suit!!! Every person I spoke with today, that was part of the RIF, did not have the seniority that I expected. Specifically, every redundant person on my team and outside of my team... — read more
Mr. Kurian, what were you thinking?
So many directors and managers are still here. You let the workers go and kept all the useless high paying positions. Transforming? Please wake up and smell the curry.
What's the news on bangalore?
Fellow writers What's the news on bangalore? How many are layoffs?
Been on both sides of this at NTAP
In years gone by there were several "restructuring" events in which many folks lost their positions at NetApp. In all of those events there was, at least in the management view, a fair amount of transparency. That meant that they knew what they were... — read more
Approximately 65 affected in Wichita
As I understand it, the Wichita office lost 65 (+/-) loyal, dedicated and talented team members today, including folks with as many as 43 years of service dating back to the NCR days. NCR built the facility in 1973 and some of these folks had been... — read more
Travel vs WebEx
I wonder if the people in Sunnyvale that chuckled at George Curryman's comments about wasted money on travel, since people can't figure out great communication tools like WebEx, were laid off today. Some laughing matter, with the people impacts... — read more

Good times on repeat
I left NTAP because the culture there is long dead.
I left NTAP because the culture there is long dead. They are not the NetApp they were 5 years ago. After 3 layoffs, the atmosphere on the RTP campus is melancholy and abysmal. I could not be any more happy to be out of there and at a company that... — read more
It's not looking good. Good luck everyone!!!
Our VP called for entire team meeting this morning in RTP, March 1. 25 people. He asked for everyone to be there in person. Plus, he was on linkedin updating his information yesterday. It's not looking good. Good luck everyone!!!
Hardware
Confirmed with a VP in engineering that hardware group will take a hit. There is a big push now within NetApp is leveraging whitebox / ODM solutions. Just look at Solidfire -- someone else's hardware!
Severance
Everyone I'm talking to in Sunnyvale saw it coming and is pretty happy. They're glad that they slow rolled it and got the severance. It's like a double blessing -- long lead time on the layoff and two months paid leave.
Wichita Layoffs
More than 10 conference rooms in Wichita are reserved from 8am to 1pm CST. This is horrible!!
We don't have to lose the best parts of our culture here but we can't forget this is a business.
Everyone remaining here with us has the imperative to MAKE THIS WORTH IT. We can either continue to spend too much money, give shit away for free and thoughtlessly throw around money OR everyone can take a long hard look on their effect on the... — read more
Sad day
I am currently watching people walk out with all their stuff. This is a sad day for NetApp. Best of luck to everyone.

Hardware Group Layoffs March 2016

I was dismissed in the Feb 2014 layoff after 15 years in PS. NetApp management experience is not very highly regarded in the marketplace.
In fact most knowledgeable hiring managers will question if you were somehow part of the well known problems that brought NetApp to the sad place it now exists. Since the introduction on Clustered ONTAP I had customers asking if they could just stay... — read more
Cleaned out my desk, ready for what happens on 3/1!

Layoff solution
Getting rid of perks is not the answer to keeping jobs. There is a fundamental issue with the core of this company. This won't be the last round of layoffs. I'd expect another one same time next year, if not later this year, because as the company is... — read more
Wake up, this is a Novell moment
