Did you know Arista is half the market cap of Cisco and only has 5100 employees compared to 86,000 employees at Cisco?

Arista has only 5000 employees, definitely not non-tech — bass pro shop
Cisco has approximately 17 times as many employees as compared to Arista !
- But Cisco’s market cap is only about 2 times Arista’s.
- Arista is worth nearly $43 million per employee, compared with approximately $5 million per Cisco employee.
True, but our DC folks produce Figma demos where everything is so much better than Arista!
@aw innovation and execution? Do you say circle-back too?
If Crisco hires 100,00 more nontechnical middle managers they could have more powerpoint presentations though.
The sign of a successful company anywhere in tech anywhere now is "TO PRODUCE THE BEST WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF PEOPLE"
- Arista got the memo a long time ago.
Meanwhile Dinosaur Cisco has NINETY THOUSAND people. Most of them managers managing to manage the management.
Unpack that.
@ap and CFO...
so Cisco should be able to LR about 90% and still be fine?
@aw stay focused Ken. The discussion was about employee number and market cap. Nice try going off on a tangent.
Ok ken
Nvidia is eating Arista’s lunch. Nvidia sales in data center switches is close to $2.1 per quarter.
NVIDIA just passed Cisco and Arista Networks to become the largest vendor in data center Ethernet switching.
According to IDC, Nvidia generated $2.1 billion in data center Ethernet switch revenue during Q1 2026, up 192.7% year over year, capturing a 21.5% market share.
Cisco has solutions from desktop to edge to SP. no other networking company in USA is close to it. They are required so that customers buy it from single company.
Arista is under pressure ! All depends on innovation and execution.
@am spot on!
The original point was just to say…. Did you know how effective they are?
@am Let's not forget the trip into Scientific Atlanta, Flip, Linksys, etc
Arista's CEO and COO are former CSCO execs.
Arista sticks to core route/switch. Like the old days of cisco before gartner convinced cisco that customer want a 'platform approach' not just the best R/S. And so the company spread away from it's core competencies and started chasing what ever was the flavor of the month was...three years too late. Blades are hot! Let's buy UCS and try that... then cloud. Cisco skipped cloud, that was supposed to be passing phase they told us. It would blow over and everyone would come back to local on-prem just like the good old boomer main frame days. Oh wait, hyperconverged lets chase that! Oh, security is hot, lets buy all these security companies, gut them, and let them die on the vine. Oh, gartner created an 'observability' category! Let's get on that with some more purchases, appdynaics, TE, splunk, and ton of other smaller players, just keep chasing not inovating cisco!
