Working at T-Mobile lately has been mentally exhausting.
With the layoffs, constant reorgs, leadership changes, and all the uncertainty around budgets, it's hard not to worry about job security. At the same time, the economy isn't exactly giving people confidence that finding another job would be easy.
I know I'm not the only one feeling this way. Most of us just want some stability and honest communication so we can focus on doing our jobs instead of wondering if we'll be part of the next announcement.

Coming down on a coworker who seems to be leading a very good life is not a good look. personally, I'm grateful for the good people in my life, work and home, who have been good examples for me. Just a thought.
@r4 pro life supporters but pi-s on them when out of the womb? These are systematic issues that someone is profiting off of and it certainly isn’t the average American. If you can’t figure out that we’re being manipulated at this point when will you?
@qx Whether you like Dave Ramsey or not, if the BLUE districts (as you call them) applied his teachings....most of the issues you highlighted would take care of themselves. Teach a man to fish vs. teaching a man to eat.
@nm Please pull up a US map that shows the 435 congressional districts. Something pretty obvious should jump out at you (with a few exceptions like Johnson County, KS and a handful of other districts.) What you will see is the majority of the country is RED. You don't see much BLUE, but where you do, it is very concentrated and mostly around all the major cities. What do these BLUE districts have in common? Glad you asked....you will almost universally find failing public school systems, crime, unemployment, poverty, lower home values, and a general lack of hope. Most of these districts have been voting BLUE for the last 100 years. Things have not got better in those 100 years, they have gotten worse. It is the definition of insanity. Both parties are corrupt (lets agree on that), but one party is way more interested in keeping power and control, than actually doing something to fix the common failures listed above. So what was your complaint about Dave Ramsey again?

Solid Christian fundamentals to look up to right there. I’m sure your wealth was built through philanthropy and helping the poor and less fortunate. Tell yourself what you need to buddy. The hypocrisy is astounding.
@kd mock me all you want. I am content, happy and healthy. I am grateful for my life and the people like Dave Ramsey who teach biblical lessons on finance.

@hd I love Dave Ramsey too. I am worth $40M, I love my job, and I live in a van down by the river. I am 47 and never plan to retire.

@j8 Maybe you should take it out on people like Mike Sievert who grifted several hundred million dollars off of you, or Srini, who is currently making millions to bullsh-t you, sell your company out front underneath you and lay you off, rather than people who did well by being disciplined and thrifty.

@h7 I love Dave Ramsey. I've been following him for almost 30 years. I'm middle management and worth about $20M thanks to him and my willingness to plan, budget and sacrifice. I'll be 60 next year and planning to retire in modest comfort. I'm probably more the exception than the average person but only because I stayed disciplined to budgeting and modest living.
@ep Everybody craps on Dave Ramsey, however during Covid, I was listening to his show, and he kicked me in the tail to go cash. I paid off a bunch of debt. That was about a year before I got laid off.
Live within your means. You have to be willing to apply for and accept a job. Any job.

@ag That's with all companies. Take advantage of everything you can get from them... stock, training, education reimbursement, insurance, healthcare while you can. One day they will say they no longer want you no matter how high you go, just be ready to pull the ripcord and bail out.
Ran into an old T-Mobile buddy after church this weekend. He said one of the guys he knows (a Sr. Manager) had 5 managers and teams under him let go, and he was told it was up to him to do all the work.
Glad I got laid off.

I hear you and understand but it’s also every company now… find me a tech company not doing layoffs and reorgs yearly now. Verizon just did a second wave of layoffs this year

Save and put your money somewhere safe - even Warren Buffet is sitting this one out. Try to remind yourself of the great things you have without this job: family, friends, pets, guitars, cars, etc. I'm pulling for you; we're all in this together!
@OP Save/Invest as much as you can. Survive as long as you can. Hopefully when your number finally gets called, you will be where you need to be to financially tap out.
