Thread regarding Optum layoffs

What time do layoffs happen?

Morning? Mid day? Do they ever happen in the afternoon?

@zr Oh I see. Thank you. So it varies then.

If you are in a clinic your layoff will probably happen within the first hour of the day. If you work remotely or in a non-clinical office, it usually happens before lunch (unless it is a huge layoff wave), and you typically receive the 15 min meeting invite less than an hour before the meeting. The invites often have generic subject lines such as "Please Prioritize" or "Org Update," and the team is usually bcc'd, so you can't see who else was invited.

They also sometimes have meetings after the layoff for the group of survivors from the RIF. You don't always know which group you're in until the meeting starts.

@ze Mine layoff meeting was 1 on 1 with just a manager, no HR person or 2nd manager. I think it was less humliating that having leadership team up on you.

So they can happen anytime, that’s because you need an either a manager and HR person present, or two managers present. Depends on how long the list is for that day. Try not to give yourself anxiety over this.

@OP The ones I’m aware of usually early morning. Depends on the manager delivering the news.

@bw I was laid off in the afternoon, it just depends on how many they have to do that day.

There’s already a post on this. Why are cluttering up the page with nonsense?
