I am the one who shared that I am drawing 10500 before LTSA.

Reason I am exploring opportunities outside is because I am disappointed with the leadership on how people are let go so easily before we explore our handles. Also, I assumed that it won’t be too hard to find something equivalent. But truth be told, after searching for a while, I’m starting to feel that it may be better to just stay on until job market gets better as I don’t see much better option out there at the moment. If our AWS is reduced it may make it an easier decision but since nothing is firm there I am not planning to act on impulse

To the OP and anyone else earning >10K, what's your reason for wanting to leave? Seems like you've been doing pretty decent over the years.

I think people glamourise job hopping too much. Unless you are still junior and therefore not earning that high or bringing with you a niche, transferrable skillset or making a vertical move, a paycut is highly probable in an employer's market.

So it boils down to what you value most, and whether the golden handcuffs are still worth it.

Liddat can also operate EM plant in Fawley, or Rotterdam from Afghanistan right?

How much should one be earning at 30, 35, 40, 45?

For all aspiring stalwarts, as a guide, if you don’t meet the following promotion benchmarks, you are deemed mediocre and will likely have a normal career ahead of you in EMAPPL:

SH by 34-35 years old, or earlier
DH by 37-38 years old

Note: minus 2 years for females, or non-Singaporeans who did not serve NS

Can you share what was your career path in EM like previously and what industry you are in now? It will help many others with a reference on where certain experiences in EM may be valued in other industry.

Also, how long did you take the get this offer? Any tips on your search process?

Good to have a sense of salary benchmark here. Some of us not aware that we have been short changed by the system.

I'm 34 and was drawing 5 figures as well.
I took a 15% pay cut and changed industry (one with a brighter outlook).
Best decision made, the welfare/dynamics/stocks distribution is way better than EM.
The job I'm doing now is way alot more interesting as well. Pretty sure, my compensation will outpace a lot of hi-pos in EM in the next few years.

EM is just toxic in culture. Money is good but is it worth when mental and happiness are affected? My advice, Your family needs you more. Life is too short chasing money, it is never worth it.

For those remaining young upstarts who hope for upward mobility inside a company that has been slashed down on headcount and morale, think again!
In case you have not noticed, more SG locals from overseas postings (all hi-pos in CLs 27 -29) have been parachuted back from Altona, Europe and the USA over the recent months, and filling DH and “Special Assignment” positions.
More of them to come, as this move to repatriate them is more defensive, to protect.
So key positions in SG will be replaced with local repatriates from top down, eventually even, at DM level, when the current lot hits their use-by date.
So do you still think that you have hope to climb up the ladder?
When our local crème de la crème all return and fill the senior and middle management positions, where do you think you will stand in the selection process?

Keep applying else where, don’t stop. And spend more time and effort in ensuring that the resume fits what you are interested in- customized to the requirements and not anyhow shooting all over the place, hoping something hits the target.

Love to have a larger base, so that there’s more people to go through when offering up slots for PIP. With a smaller base, the NSI becomes a lot more dangerous for me. Why would I want to encourage people to leave. In fact, the more the merrier. It’s a numbers game, and still you don’t know how to play it, that’s why you are probably a perpetual PIPer.

Is it really much easier for you guys to get better offers out there? I have not been actively applying but after sending almost 75 to 100 resumes out over last 6 months and not getting anything that can match my current compensation I’m feeling there isn’t a lot of good options out there.

If you’ve just joined EM, you’d be in your mid-20s now, well, late 20s to mid-30s if you’re an experienced hire.
With the drastic headcount cuts, you’re expected to remain in your first job for at least 5 years, if not longer. Then progress to senior/complex engineer - take another 5+ years.
By then, most will be in their mid-30s to early-40s and still cannot smell an SLS position.
Smelly smelly nowsaday, you will need at least 15 years to reach SLS level hor!
By that time, you already 40+ wor!
Not really marketable for a 40-something section head nia!
In the past, by that age, you could already be a DH, or even a young, budding DM - if you are a hyper hi-po.
Is that a long-term career that you want to be chasing, in a sunset industry? For crying out loud!
You need to place your future in front of you. THINK!

Go enrol in any NTUC course, especially WAH, CSSA, safety, Supervisory course. With these in your resume, sure got company called you for interview. Had went few interviews, also changed 2 job.
Don't feel ashame been PIP or NSI, just tell the truth to the interviewer. They know what EM is doing.

As long as you are below 40 (and still marketable), it would be better to look elsewhere.

The difference now is that PIP only for the 8%, but without PIL option (i.e., to skip PIP, take the 3-months payout and run away far far!).

# dont take own vehicle take company bus to mingle with strangers and all em employees so everybody can see you even security guards can get to know you by now and you be seen by mgmt
# dont wear own clothing but wear company uniform all the way from home to workplace to show your love and pride and advertise exxonmobil brand everywhere you go and you be recognised by mgmt
# dont talk abt own topics but talk all positive abt exxonmobil work project stock price em mgmt lpo lpss nli li past incidents everytime anytime anywhere you go be it in the bus canteen clinic toilet or pretending to talk loudly on the phone alone and you'll be heard by mgmt
# last but not least dont be afraid to volunteer to take up em project like doing sharing walkabout housekeeping hang up em posters and you be relevant to mgmt
