Who says times are bad. DW and his team are still getting the same number of RSUs, MORE dividends are paid to them despite the most challenging time the corporation has faced. No sweat on the lobbyist too. Times are great as there’s no accountability for folks at the top.

To give the illusion that times are bad. Company has no spare change for the masses. Nothing official so managers can act blur and deny.
Another theory — all the secrecy makes the top percentile feel even more special and motivated.

Why is it a hush hush thing when they are giving out increments to selected group? I mean, why can’t they just announce it that there is selective increment given based on performance vs having employees hear it from channels like this one?

Mid-cycle adjustments only for the PA Outstanding and better categories.

Anyone heard of mid cycle adjustments for Singapore folks? Heard there are some given to selected individuals but not sure if it applies to SG

Actually, why are we making it so toxic here when we are all suffering from the consequences due to bad management and decision? Live and let live man. Wonder why so much negativity here, XOM is the best part-time job ever.
Have made almost 20 years of salary from options, crypto, and shares by starting at 9 and ending work at 4 every day.

The five possible ranking groups are actually:

outstanding
excellent
very good
good
needs improvement

Within the top and bottom quintiles are two subgroups:
"outstanding with distinction" for the top within outstanding group
"needs significant improvement" for bottom 8% within the needs improvement group

There are five possible ranks, NSI, NI , Very good, excellent and outstanding. Newer employees will be ranked either NI , very good or excellent.

New employee ranked as outstanding in the first year? I had thought that they r by default in the spared from ranking and place in the middle of their first year.

the big consultancy firms pay quite well. I just heard another colleague got a pay raise probably higher than her SLS. It is a win-win situation and definitely a winning behavior to leave.

I am a relatively new employee in chemicals, with 3 years of experience. I was ranked outstanding in my first two years and excellent this year. i have officially tendered my resignation from my position to join a consultancy firm last week. EM has given me a lot and it will be a key part of my life.

want to highlight that there are actually a lot of companies out there that pays better actually , even shopee pays relatively better. We also have employees ranging from PE, lead PE and even SLS joining the big 3 consultancy firms (MBB) and they are earning 2-3x of what I am earning in EM right now.

Oil producers are playing with fire again, cut o/p to raise oil prices. Short term gain and long term pain. This spike in oil prices are driving more people to switch to EV sooner. Let’s see

It actually benefits the company in weeding out early, such outliers - as we go through the next phase of re-hiring sooner, more than later.
The Chemical MGVs are already doing that.

Folks who had resigned in 1H21 all got their pro-rata 3-month AWS fulfilled.
So why should the rest of us remaining here, be held ransom to the “uncertainty” of the same in YE21?
This all points to the immaturity of many of the posters in this forum - many of whom are relatively young employees, of the strawberry generation kind.
All they are flustered about are AWS cut and salary freeze. Very shallow thinking lah. Duh!!

Regardless of the uptick in crude price, Lubes and Olefins margins seen recently (1Q21), these could still be a day late and a dollar short for EM Corp.
Our corporate debt, in billions, still bind us to being tightly Capex-strapped, which is preventing the immediate cash-Gen realisation that the business units so desperately want/need, to penetrate new growth markets and to invert the negative cash flow!

But these are the “living dead” whom are earning salaries to the tune of $300K pa, and higher - that have no qualms of remaining behind. Laughing their way to the bank. AWS cuts and pay freeze notwithstanding.

It's the elevated oil price now that is holding the company together from falling further, reversing some of the poor decisions it made previously. Its very likely that we will see another oil price downturn since this is a cyclic business. How the company performs then depends on how much it learns today. For that, there will be many painful decisions required to correct the ship back on its course. There will be casualties. I can only hope the sacrifices are worthwhile and that the company will learn from its mistakes. Too often those so- called strategies or action are merely demonstration by a group or individual to be seen competitive and aligning with company vision. (No thanks to competitive performance assessment). Whether those actions yield meaningful result and is sustainable (discounting the inflated metrics and self praises) often remains a question mark. When the company balance sheet is in great shape, it still can afford to make mistakes (and, toying out with many "great" ideas) but not so when it is now in debt by billions. It has been living in its own world long enough. Now, it's time to wake up or forever perish in its own dreams.

Those who are young , still not half cooked will jump off and get a new life . For those who are half boiled or cooked and dead, does it make a difference if they perish with the sinking ship? 2021 aws was already approved in last year’s salary planning cycle.. the current one is looking at 2022...

Just confirmed no AWS cut for 2022 but don't expect significant pay rise. Its been a journey worth waiting for. Let's work together to get the company back on track. We need each other in this tough times.
