Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Low quality hires in tech!

I feel lately they hire warm bodies full time and chains of friends hiring friends.
Is this the "special talent" that we bring in from overseas??

No one can say anything about it, because if you do you will be classified as intolerant and would lose your job.

I've seen so locals just lose interest in this environment.

BofA is really just throwing $ down the drain in the name of cost cuts and "special talent".

These conference calls we have yield nothing but people not knowing how to take turns speaking or working as a team. There is no team culture at all.

Am I off base here?? Or is this disease all over tech across the banking industry?

Bank of America hardly hires foreign workers directly unless they come from college grad programs. The ones you see have been at the Bank for years. Contractors, yes those are foreigners.

BOA does not care about top talent and does not need them. Most of the projects are internal facing with hardly any real computer science problems to solve. Its mostly boring maintenance work and your skills wont grow as an engineer.

Saw a $13 million proposal from a vendor get knocked down to $2 million, basic sh-t barely functions, have all kinds of manual workarounds

I suppose if a company can’t do right by its employees they wouldn’t do right by their clients either. This bank has lost perspective as to what should be important. Forcing people to go back to work with high gas and food cost will only lead to them worrying more l. Being in the office will be a constant reminder of why RTO makes no sense. Can’t wait to see how it all falls apart. Low morale and low productivity is a recipe for disaster not to mention new employees who can’t do the job. So to your point of stealing clients, maybe you should. If we the employees deserve better then so do the clients. If you can treat them better then it’s not a steal it’s a better opportunity the clients deserve.

It’s the same in other departments. Warm bodies that don’t have the skillset to do the job.

If warm bodies can get the job done at all, that is satisfactory to leadership. Getting it done perfectly and efficiently is too expensive for our business model. Every budget approval sounds like this: "We want to be the best in the market! This proposal will take $10mm to finish at that level. We will approve $4mm. Now go be the best there is and do more with less!"
