Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

70/30 Is not true

I just had a candid conversation with band 5 director offline. They said no on-shore hiring at all, first look for HIH if you can't find there, then contract one of the vendors. Some of the vendors already moved to fixed bid and to provide unlimited resources, i.e. whether you get 5 contractors or 10, the pay will be set once, fixed. The goal is not 70 HIH and 30 On shore, it's way less, only select managers will be around supervising HIH - When are we going to stop this? do we even have a government that cares about American workers anymore.

@jc Thank you for your perspective. I must have missed that in reading.

@r9 Before anyone goes after Indian managers. Plenty of white people in those orgs do this if they detect a threat or someone more talented than them.

@nr Based on my experience from wanting to transfer to Tech or Digital.

Legally, US based hiring managers have to hire Americans that apply for a job.

Next, these corrupt hiring managers want to hire their family member, friends or perhaps accept bribes to hire said family member.

Then they throw impossible interview questions at YOU or just flat out insult your experience for no reason. Or say there is "no room" for someone like you.

Then they tell the recruiter that they can't hire you and they just "have" to find talent offshore.

Lather, rinse, and repeat.

@kh

You think offshoring work just started?

If a position is posted in the US, how can it be filled by HIH?

@ch I think the consensus is that it is not true, the 70 HIH and 30 Onshore, just the same way the claimed they eliminated 2k employees while we know for sure that it's not only 2k, could be twice as much. The word is that, it's more than 70% to be handled by HIH, more like 90+

@av Where do you get your data? If this was true, why is Cigna and other companies investing billions in infrastructure in India? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just offshore if you were just doing it short term?

@bb I believe they will trash the country by the end of this current administrations term. It's might be irreparable to.

I think OP is suggesting it may be MORE than 70% HIH.

The math isn't mathing on this thread. Multiple prior threads have several individuals saying yes it is true, they have seen the written materials, had the conversations with higher bands.

Consider this: You spoke with one B5. Not to be rude, but the B5 you spoke with doesn't speak for the whole enterprise, and to be frank, not every B5 knows everything - it's just a band.

The work in this company despite what the talking heads tell you in town halls is incredibly siloed. The unaffected areas are none the wiser.

The B5 is only telling you what their management is telling them (if anything at all).

Only a few individuals are in the know when taking part in backroom deals and handshakes when decisions are made - that's how it works. Often, info leaks out and trickles down to others.

Some of what the B5 told you could be true but I don't buy the whole thing - something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

I will also say that AI is referred to as its own entity. For goodness sake, someone has to run it, program it, continually iterate it whether that's offshore or onshore.

The B5 you spoke with either isn't being fully truthful, or has no idea what they're talking about.

No, we don’t have a government that cares about American workers anymore. They just care about protecting billionaires, corporations and p*dophile elites.

The last 12 months have been the worst I’ve ever seen in my 57 years and it’s never been good.

@aw

The jobs going to India are basically process jobs that will be done by AI. So India may get these jobs today, but they will soon be automated also.

Tech jobs are briefly going to India, but those job will largely be absorbed by AI in the next 5 years.

Theyre good at repeatable tasks which are slowly being automated away. I dont know how its wise at all to crank that number up.

The question you must ask, how is HIH getting access to customer/patient production data, how is it allowed for people outside this country to have access to such sensitive information (health and medical records). HIPPA doesn't explicitly prohibit offshoring but this company handles employers health information of several organization including federal (DoD) and State governments - how are they okay with their medical records shared outside of the US? - imagine someone looking at the medication prescription of some state governor and leaking that info - this might change election results some day -then we wake up too late.
