In his first month of being interim CIDO, "Hot Mess" has already announced another restructuring for IT. What an innovative strategy that will absolutely not backfire. But don't forget to do your Time tracking (give me a break).

The new CIDO knows best…….not
@6z7 I've been working with Cognizant a lot more lately.
We're being told to have over all of our day to day work to them so that we can focus on "strategy".
Not sure why we have leaders, if they're not the ones handling strategy.
And nevermind the fact that Cognizant needs so much babysitting that I spend more time than if I had just fine everything myself.
@734 that and KPMG. some don't need to take ethics training or be concerned about a conflict of interest
@6z7 they will go with whoever is the absolute cheapest thus ensuring it will turn out to be…a HOT MESS.
@a7 Which big MSP are they going to go with though Cognizant, NTT Data, or Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)?
@19g MSP = Manufactured Stress Producer
@19g Winter is coming....winter is almost here...
IT team member here! The infrastructure tools team is the only area I've heard being affected so far. That means anything to do with ITSM, GSM, webforms, discovery, asset management, etc. will be handed over to an MSP in 3-5 months.
Next chopping board will be after this week's earning call. Out by June-30.
Whose head is on the chopping block today?
I work in a plant and I am waiting for a layoff. Hopefully the recommendation from consultant pushes through from PaulG.
@vk
Waiting for the severance was my strategy. But I was miserable at work far longer than I should have allowed. Start looking for a job while you have one. The market isn’t great, but if you find a unicorn job, you take it. If you don’t, you wait for the severance. It took me over 9 months after the layoff to land a new job. But severance plus partial bonus lasted way better than expected. Plan and save up now, since you never know how long it will take. There are much better jobs out there, even in a bad market. And if you do end up leaving, my advice is to try to take a break between jobs. Life’s too short to always be stressed out at work. I wish the best for all my 3M IT friends, but 3M isn’t giving you anything near the best.
@tn at this point I'm so burned out, I kind of hope I get laid off this time.
I'm tired of picking up the slack every time they lay people off.
I'm tired of the stress of worrying that I might be one of the unlucky ones this time.
I'm tired of the way priorities change constantly so whatever I was working on last year is completely irrelevant after the layoffs.
I'm tired of working so hard for nothing. A paltry 2.1% raise this year.
Maybe a push out the door and six months paid time off is exactly what I need.
Big lay off wave coming from MARS recommendation. Stay tight.
@jq
I think people have been "on edge" since the day that Strategy & Services was born in IT. Its not clear to me what "the strategy" is and certainly they dont provide any services of consequence. Heck many of the people " in management" aren't even located in Maplewood or Austin. The location strategy of these special folks is a great mystery in addition to being an open secret.
@jq, what did the note say?
The note was hardly worth sending... no info other than 'be on edge from now until some unknown time in future....' I hope those that leave on their own accord as result of that note leave a gigantic hole for hot mess to speak to. What a mess already.... the bubble gum is barely holding things together as is.. can't wait to see how well it holds with our "cheaper" outsource everything model. When does our latest fun begin?
HOT MESS will cause BIG STRESS
"Winter is coming" .... be ready, be prepared
@c5 Between McKinsey and Dom's Kearney, this company has slashed about 10,000 jobs. Must be easy to have no skin in the game and create 100 slide PP presentations to show how "efficiency" can be achieved. The best job security in the world is working for a consulting firm. Or be one of BB's many Florida-based cronies.
Meanwhile, BB naively believes employees will continue to work their butts off like the mice in the spinning wheels, striving for food that's "just out of reach" while only getting an occasional crumb. Quiet quitting is our friend.
@bq “Hotmess” brought in McKinsey, and sold the strategy to Smurf & Yaught-Dirty Brown! They weren’t easily convinced due to other recommendations, but here we are now depending on “Hotmess” saving money!
@bg IT’s interim “Hot mess” has a finance background. He doesn’t care if/how the strategy works as long as he can show a TEMPORARY cost savings.
It is all of IT, no team or geography will be spared. Unless you are in a country like Korea or France where you can say no to being laid off. As much as Hot Mess will take the blame on this, he was just carrying out his marching orders. It was Smurphy that planned this out and left just before s**t got real. They are all jumping ship and bailing before it gets real. Like the brave, confident leaders that they all are. They started planning this with McKinsey over a year ago. Be glad the wheels of mother mining move slowly, you had a job a year longer. I hope you enjoyed making those on time mortgage payments while you could. Don't let the ba----ds grind you down, wait for the severance.
@a7 the goal of the announcement of restructuring is to get people to leave on their own without layoffs or severance payments.
I thought we asked for mostly Americans from our MSPs after multiple unsatisfactory results from Indian teams?
@ba MSP = managed service providers.
Wages in India are way less than those in Europe or the US, so IT outsources all of the work. It doesn't have to be done well, because we'll just hit another underpaid Indian to fix it.
What's MSP? General IT or SAP?
I deal with MSPs regularity and the quality delivered is negative. We escalate concerns up internally, they escalate their „great accomplishments“ up and at top tier they celebrate their lies to each other holding their hands.
I also wonder why they don’t simply ki-l the workforce in a timely manner instead of announcing restructuring over and over leaving uncertainty among us.
I lost all trust in the „leadership“.
@a2 The US and EU. They are going all in on MSPs and AI (Actually Indians) to fully devolve IT into a dumpster fire.
Anyone any idea what regions are impacted?
