No notification, no layoff?

Is this one of the rare situation where we can already know that if we didn't get a notification, we're safe?

Not really. Some regions will be notified way later due to labor laws, country restrictions etc. Gonna be a fascinating time with people motivation somewhere below the ground level.

My son works there, he told me last week his mgt said he was “safe”. So people were notified upfront…

Depending on where your manager is located, they could still be setting the meeting up. I liked it when my manager would gather us all to let us know the status of our group, but not all managers do that.
