@z8 this is a real concern. Many examples of families moving and then immediately being gone pecans. Not just to Midland. Best thing to do is to make an excuse why you have to stay in Houston. Aging parents, private medical issue of partner or children, etc. I have know multiple employees who moved including having their partner resign from a good job in Houston only to be let go. Imagine going from two stable incomes in Houston to nothing and having to self relocate to find a job.
Remember- if you are pipped in Midland, you have to self-relo out of Midland. Be careful. At least CXV and COP have policies guaranteeing you a return relo from Midland if you are pipped.
My observation has been that those who stay in Houston the most do best career wise. Expat assignments and out of Houston assignments result in less of the all important visibility. Avoid being seconded at all costs as they are career su----e.
If you are single and male hoping to meet someone good luck in the Permian. If you are single and female and don’t want to be harassed good luck in the Permian. If you have kids the schools are terrible. Houston is trying very hard to push down the CL of Permian employees as well.
@a3 LMFAO... don't forget table top horse racing
no, extra work, long hiurs, terrible leaders, endless paperwork, sad life.
but..you will get featured in slowmotion videos of employees eating tacos and ice cream pretending to be happy as they die and wither from the inside. if thats your thing.
