@3s5 A ford vehicle is probably not right for you in that case.

@3s3 Sorry, I prefer my car actually running while I'm on the highway.

@3rx You're*

Sorry, just am a grammar na-i.

Probably better than being an actual Na-i, like Henry Ford..

Anyone ever go to the news with this stuff? Surveillance at ford is real, low brow lack of ethics and decency seems to be pervasive.

@3s1 Ford sociological department ideas would be interesting historical trivia if it wasn't still happening. Amazon most definitely learned from FMC.

You think these execs sit there and do nothing? They trade data.

Until Equifax lowers your credit score because Google sold it the audio of you discussing a horrible financial decision... ;-) stranger things have happened.

https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/blog/2023/06/hey-alexa-what-are-you-doing-my-data

"The Amazon complaint also says that Amazon didn’t use appropriate controls to limit which employees could access Alexa users’ voice recordings, so thousands of employees had access to sensitive voice recordings that they didn’t need"

All these big companies have connections to other big companies with... guess what... your customer data. Even if you were a minor or not. None of it matters to them and it is all fair game. Don't believe me? Ask the execs at Ford about their relationship with Amazon ;)

@3rv Nearly the same? Calm down, Hyperbole Harry.

@3rx I think that assuming they have some kind of sociology mathematics that become increasingly accurate about what is sensitive and relevant to them and recording and sending only what's needed or wanted is much more likely and also eliminates the entire internet or data storage issue for the Amazon Alexa product. Probably use the same people from at the now defunct Ford Sociological Department

@3rx under-estimating*

@3rv I think your over-estimating the amount of data they mine from Amazon. It does not have to listen 24/7. It only has to listen for a few minutes at a time. For example, start and keep listening when it registers any voice, and keep listening for 30 seconds, stopping if there is no voice. Over time, it learns your patterns, constantly listening during the most likely time frames. Standard analog phone lines are only 8kbps, and that's perfectly fine for voice. The fact that as an amateur I could code a Raspberry Pi to do this (listen/record/store offsite, not the whole search deal) with an AWS backend in a weekend project is unsettling. There is no accountability from Google or Amazon/Alexa.

@3rv One is unexpectedly showing up and forcing their way into your home to make sure you are living by the life values that they dictate or you will lose your lively hood, the other is a speaker that plays Spotify and tells you what a Whopper is. Basically the same thing.

@3rq Today, we throw money at products which do nearly the same thing, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, etc

@3rs They still do it through Facebook, TV, personal emails, and work emails, and through secretly recording video and audio of conversations at work (and home), as well as anything personal they can obtain through data brokers, which is sadly a lot. Don’t get me started on their intelligence departments and the one-click vulnerabilities out there for ours phones lately. Ford Motor Company has a long leash in this state when it comes to what they are allowed to do here, with others looking the other way.

Id rather buy a car from somewhere that promotes workers rights rather than some awful dystopia where your employer can tell you what to do in your private time.

@3qf Sounds like a double bind, where you aren't safe either way. You can't think about something that doesn't exist. "Safety". What safety? The illusion of one door being safe? Like staying quiet about the issues? That's not safe, that's an illusion. There is no safety!

@2jr He's trying to make Ford's sh---y quality a guaranteed profit stream.... We don't have dealer capacity and technicians to fix the vehicles that do end up at the dealer according to Fartley, what's this dude thinking? Hint, it's not about safety.....

JF says it's a safety issue to repair your own car for warranty. Meanwhile, they produce the biggest POS in the industry with industry-leading highest warranty. It takes weeks/months for the dealer to complete warranty work.

@a2 At what frame rate are you monitoring the car repair situation? Are we talking 60 fps and firsthand observation, or just a general impression? There has to be a lesson in productivity. Is it worth the time or not? Which conditions? It can't be worse than here. A suit is easier for justifying and recruiting more psychopathy, compared to a mechanic, who comes off more earnest. People in positions of authority and power can explain away harmful behavior, whereas those folks seem more genuine and less likely to do so.

But they can't find mechanics who want to work for the pay and under the conditions at dealerships, so it takes weeks to get your car repaired.
