What if you become disabled during the sub benefit pay out. How do they pay out the remainder since you no longer qualify for Unemployment due to the disability? Anyone have any insight?

@jy I can confirm this. The way it's done now (the SUB plan) is another thing in the long line of benefits they've taken away from employees over time. They will continue to do so until nothing is left, I fear.

I’m pretty sure years ago there was no requirement to file unemployment in order to get the severance. At some point along the way they quietly changed it. So now, instead of being able to file severance and then later file your unemployment now you have to do both at the same time. Which kind of su-ks obviously.

The max payout is still capped to 26 weeks.

Yes it's supplemental to your unemployment benefits. Base benefit is 4 weeks plus 1.5 weeks for every year of employment. That 4 weeks becomes 8 weeks if you are a grade 14 or above. All the information is in Pulse. When filing for unemployment (which you have to do in order to receive this) you cannot call this Severance...you have to call it supplemental unemployment pay. When searching for this in Pulse, search under Supplemental Unemployment Benefit Plan.

My understanding, at least the last time I heard anything about it, was that it’s not really a severance-more likely it’s “supplemental”.
Meaning that you will get however many months you have earned, but you will also be required to file for unemployment and the amount that you get from unemployment will be deducted from your paycheck from EH.
