Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

laid off

been there just 8 months, got laid off today with several peers. big changes to the sales/partner org. really cr-ppy to have been lured away from a good job only to have my OT position eliminated a few months after I started.

In the know, and here to share the WFRS are coming in waves, July through October/November. They have been planned for many months, with some of the later stage exits because company is still in talks with councils for some countries. This is all related to the announcements this week and next around GTM transformation and no, it is not "just sales". With the new model, there are many many fewer employees required AND new CEO handed down very strict budgets OPEX requirements = many less employees.

New CEO has been working on this new model since long before his official first day. The ELT do not like him. They sort of are afraid of him. Expect CEO to make ELT changes.

The true goal here is that part of the new CEO hiring is that he has a big payout on the books if he gets the stock to X by X. He is only hired for a short window, potentially two fiscal years starting with FY27.

The listening tour he keeps talking about is not really his interest. That' s deliberate white noise, seriously this white noise is part of his plan, on paper, to keep employee attention away from everything that will start coming at you. Expect significant dog and pony show in the coming months to convince you that all that is being taken away is for your long term success.

BIG Company Fear is sellers quitting, they have major relationships with accounts and that would be hugely impactful.

Keep your eyes open. Ask questions when on calls.

Also was there eight months, lured away from a nice job. All promises and no delivery of anything. It is all lies, deceit and smoke and mirrors. They keep bringing the old band back and recycling the same "good ol boys." Watch your back.

@e4 Maybe they're bigger than I thought...
From my interactions though we kind of need them to extend partner demos/end dates. As well as formally set up new ones.

If that's why some of my work is on hold, I think I'm cooked by proxy.

@dw have to agree, have to be the biggest waste of space in the company, add zero value.

@d6 There’s a few good people left in Partners. But only a few.

The majority have the aptitude of pond life, so won’t be missed.

They are reshuffling the deck chairs..same results...get out while you still can. They are so far behind and it will take too long to turn it around.

So sorry you lost your job.

With the fiscal year ending today, I am bracing for tomorrow. I have no inside info, but I am thinking it would be the time. :(

That means the rumors may be accurate. My condolences regardless! At least mid summer can sometimes be a hiring time to bounce back.
