Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Previous layoff insight

Does anyone know first hand that was laid off by Centene previously, how long it was before the severance was received? 3 weeks? A month?

I was part of a massive layoff in June of 2020 and it was a complete nightmare! We didn’t receive our regular paychecks during the 60 days prior to the last day timely (the PL’) forgot to enter our hours) and it was months before we received our actual severance checks. And many of us all signed and returned all documentation within days. I would hope they have figured out how to streamline this by now!

I received mine 5 weeks after my last working day. I did sign the agreement immediately though, so any delay in signing would extend that timeframe.

@a2 A 45-day waiting period usually refers to the review time required by the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act (OWBPA) for group exit incentive programs. Employees 40 or older given a severance or voluntary separation offer as part of a larger group/program must be given 45 days to consider the waiver.

2 pay periods after a 7 day revocation window after signing. So about a month or so after you sign.

@a2 Step 5 on Page 6 of the Program Details: "Ahead of your Separation Date, we will provide you with instructions on how to review and sign your Separation Agreement and General Release. In order to receive the VSP benefits, you will need to electronically sign (on the VSP website) the Separation Agreement and General Release during the 45-day period that begins on your Separation Date. You may not sign the Release until after your employment ends. In addition, to receive the VSP benefits you must not revoke your Separation Agreement and General Release during the period of time provided in the Agreement."

What is the 45 day waiting period? I didn’t see that in the paperwork.

I believe the payment is received on the next payday after the 45 day wait, which I think begins after you sign all the forms.
