Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Reorgs that don't make sense

Our team of what's left after layoffs was reorganized under someone who doesn't know anything about our work. Its like Customer Service manager direct reporting high level IT folks. What in the world? Who decides reorgs? Health Solutions is horrible

@he reorgs don’t make sense because they are all about offshoring. Gives the company ability to retitle jobs, etc. and send them overseas. It’s a means to an end. H1-Bs are hired not because there are no qualified candidates. It’s to ensure the offshoring strategy is a success.

USA has 500K H1-Bs and sends roughly 300,000 corporate jobs overseas each year. The job market is thinning, about the only thing you said right.

@j7 I was speaking to those let go that have no plans to returning to the healthcare sector.

Once ties are completely cut, they can no longer do much in targeting you. But you are now free to speak the truth about their bad behavior to whomever and wherever you want. As long as you are speaking/writing truth or opinion, you cannot be sued by them for libel.

These corporations have made employees to feel scared…which had caused them to literally do anything…anything…they want. These corrupt corporations desperately need to be put in check. If the government will not check them, if the national news media will not check them, then perhaps bad publicity by word of mouth, one person at a time will over time erode these corporations greedy bad behavior.

@ew Sure, mention it on social media. Draw attention to yourself. Then they'll know who's back to put a giant target on, and you'll be the next one to go.

I think this thread is down right stupid. The initial post is a good statement and point. Reorganizations should make sense. It is not about offshoring. The negativity on this site is sad. I hope the people who are just negative leave the company. I come to this site because I actually like my job and don’t want to lose it. The members I care for matter. The job market is thinning without offshoring. Let’s be helpful to one another.

@em Not only is offshoring, despite the government restrictions, worth risking the chance of being fined, right now it is worth it to them even if they do get fined. The fines are less than the amount saved on offshoring and outsourcing, via H1B.

And because both the government officials and the national media, in my opinion, are being paid off by all of the large health insurance corporations, I believe that is why nothing is being done.

Until, the national media starts showcasing on national news what is taking place for the entire world to see and public opinion about these corporations has a massive effect on business that effects shareholders stock AND also not until Federal Congress passes or ensures current laws for this behavior are implemented and have swift and undeniable painful consequences to these corporations. Until then, nothing will be done.

HOWEVER, with that said, all of us individually can mention these on all our social media and we can mention it to all family members, friends, fellow churchmen, and to any stranger we run into by chance.

Do not hold back on what these corporations are doing. Not one bit. They deserve every bit of bad publicity that comes their way.

I always wonder why we can’t be “offshore”. Why are we not setting up health insurance in the countries that we do business in?

Regarding not moving jobs off shore due to government restrictions, the recent fines and payouts clearly indicate that Elevance will roll the dice and hope they don’t get caught. If they do, they’ll pay the fine at that point because the savings they get from off shore are worth risking the fine. They will also loosely interpret the guidelines so that 99% of the work goes off shore and then they do one last minute US based “touch” and call it on shore. In my opinion, the government should disallow all off shoring for US contracts completely; I think US taxpayer funded programs should support US workers; right now the only US workers who are benefiting is the SLT.

There have been several reorgs lately that haven't made any sense. It is not rocket science to determine the issue. Look at who is running things now.

There is always a loophole and they will find it.

@a6 I don’t think we will be riffed. Our work cannot be done by offshore associates per government guidelines. Plus there won’t be any one left to do what we do. I am just annoyed about being aligned under someone who doesn’t know anything about what we do.

Sounds like you will all be riffed and your jobs will be going to overseas. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
