Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Can't afford to leave

I've been job hunting for a while now, and I've gotten some offers, but nothing that matches what I make here. That's pretty concerning because Exxon hasn't been known for top-tier pay for years, yet the offers I'm getting are still noticeably lower. I knew the market had softened, but I didn't realize it was this bad.

@pq your post is confusing. So other sites do make more so go there?

In general EM often uses titles that under represent you externally. As well other industries/companies have different compensation structure so it’s not all about that base.

I have this issue too....
Its a more difficult market than it was 5 or 10 years ago.

I've saw jobs offering 50% less than what I make here.

I also compared to other local sites and they make more.

Maybe I need to embrace AI and use it to get a new job.

Freedom comes from living below your means and buying yourself the option to quit when it suits you.

That's when you have the power.

Try jumping to LNG. 15-20% increase from XOM base with an additional yearly bonus of minimum $50k a year. And retention bonuses depending on the company and completely free insurance.

Base salaries at EM are often quite good, but most other companies have a lot more upside on variable compensation as well as future progression. Make sure you consider that. Your base might be good now, but the later you get in your career, you'll likely get more 0% salary treatments. There is a lot of downward pressure on CL's too, so expect promotions to be more limited going forward.

Early 40s and seeing -10% to +25% range of salary offerings. Money is important but the other companies offer a lot more with regards to improved location options, growing industries, younger Leadership teams, and diversified skills that will make you far more marketable. Don't overthink it, ExxonMobil is just an Employer!

Early 40s, and I just got a 20% pay bump to leave!

It sounds like you’re not very marketable!
