Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Is it bad everywhere?

As the title states, how are the other departments doing in fab 8? Have any positions been backfilled since last year? Management is acting so despondent. AI this, pick up the slack, no work. What the heck is going on?

But the new packaging facility! It’s the future! Best leaders and managers in the biz!

They're having a difficult time backfilling externally because no one is recommending anyone to work there,

NXP most potential buyer since they just sent an inside man to manage Fab8.

@OP GF is in a holding pattern. Trimming everything to make them look as attractive as possible to a buyer (trim costs, puff up stock price, etc…). Mgmt won’t share any more than is absolutely necessary. You can trust that 50% of leadership is actively shopping their next job. At this stage it would honestly be derelict for GF to NOT be trying to somehow capitalize on this memory bo-m. They’d love it if Micron, Samsung, etc… walked up with an offer to flip at least one fab to a memory fab.
