Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Subscription sales?

Anybody here have insight into actual subscription sales? I was laid off from Ford in 2022 and have been at a mediocre job for a couple years but have an opportunity involving subscription sales for a competitor. Not sure if it would be worth leaving an okay job for a risky job even for a good bit more $$$.

I know I don’t pay for too many subscriptions myself.

OP here, appreciate the feedback, did not take the job. I was able to talk to two people knowledgeable about the reality of vehicle subscriptions and the only financially successful one is OnStar.

There is no need for general employees to possess critical financial company performance information. This is why subscription details are not available.

Nothing to really keep confidential and secret other then the abysmal business unit performance you seem to be confused about. Do you not look at or believe in numbers? I wouldn't want it discovered either. Quite embarrassing.

@OP

Considering hanging your career or any stable income for that matter on an unstable or basically non-existent profit center for a vehicle OEM is at best irresponsible. Do what you will, but cannot really rationalize that if it were me. So you're wanting to take an ok/stable job, and put yourself in a position to make more money likely very temporarily...on a revenue stream that is dependent on people subscribing to something/anything on thier vehicles which they already rarely do....nah I'd pass.

@OP. The subscription sales at Ford are very well known on each quarterly earnings report from the company. After years of Bill and Jim enthusiasm for subscription sales and how they would change Ford, having Fartley explained it to us like we were in kindergarten, having sweared that subscription sales were the future, the company NEVER posted the earnings of these "sales". Therefore, the sales tanked really hard.

I don't have the exact data, but so far, most people that have a subscription received it for free when they bought the vehicle, and people don't like renewing it. So I would consider your job, whatever it is, safer than anything related with subscription sales. Now, should you go for the money and take the new position is a question that only you can answer.

@f9 No one know's the truth at Ford. We are intentionally kept in the dark. Sadistic fu--s, I guess that's how they treat their "family".

I don’t see these automotive subscriptions taking off. I wouldn’t hitch my wagon to this idea.

Ford keeps this type of information confidential and secret to maintain our competitive advantage in this crucial revenue sector. Ford will be the leader in this space.
