Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Keep your job if you can....

It is tough out here finding a new job. If you have one with benefits and good pay try to make it work. It will get better some day, but it is really bad right now. I have been looking for a while after leaving Oxy and the whole job situation has changed. On the techinical side each opening (if it is really an opening) gets 100's of resumes if not more. A lot of the jobs are ghost jobs on LinkedIn and other sites, and it is just a je-k around of people trying to get your data and then selling it. I have applied to many jobs and got one Teams interview and that had been it. I know sometimes your situation might be bad at work, but believe me it is terrible out here on the job market. I am not with HR and just want to let all my old Oxy co-workers know how bad it is. Make the most of what you have in hand.

@107 I have always considered calling someone a coward and child as an insult. Now i wonder if i was correct.

@zy Child again. Same Oxy post again. Still too much of a coward to defend your company. I agree.

@zq ALWAYS the same? NEVER anything constructive or adult? And yet here you are. I have to agree!

@r9 Operator of choice? Yeah, like in Aberdeen, Bahrain, North Dakota and Libya to name just a few, right?

@nz Strike a nerve again with facts, did I? Always the same posting on here. Don't like hearing truth so you post a childish insult. Never anything adult or constructive in the responses. Always hiding behind a message board.

Keep your job at all costs. There will be a change of control package soon that you will want to participate in. This bloated whale won't survive even with an Iranian dustup propping the stock.

@k5

Can I just re-submit my resume striking thru 'Oxy' - I'd use a red pen if you think it necessary - and replacing with "The operator of choice" or do I have to actually retype it ?

That's kinda inconvenient, but whatever it takes prevent being canned.

You are the Sr VP HR of SpaceX, right?

@k5 I chuckled reading your post you silly poster. None of what you say is true. Makes me wonder if the only thing canned was you, and you can’t get over it. I say it’s time for you to move on already.

@hp If Oxy HR department doesn't get technical input for review of resumes, then that explains a great deal about why you people are where you are. I review lots of resumes with my company and I also take part in the interview process once Ive canned every resume with Oxy on them. Its the responsible and ethical thing to do given what I know about what you people are and how you conduct yourself. You care enough to post and then claimed you don't care. Ill treat your opinion the way I would treat your resume if it came across my desk.

@gh You know that nobody believes what you just said right? I don’t care what position you have with your company, you don’t have the authority to trashcan all resumes from a given company. You’re suggesting that you do is laughable.

Having one of the worst companies in the industry on your resume can’t help either I imagine. I know as a technical peer to HR at my company I make sure the Oxy resumes don’t get anywhere. Don’t want that kind of fact based reputation poisoning a privately held company of if over 125000 great people.
