Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

KCC Layoffs

Seems like yes layoffs are coming at some point based on what Lanell is saying. A lot of language around "roles shifting" and that "decisions will be made as we learn more"

Between that and AI this company is really trying it's absolute hardest to run itself into the ground.

I wish they would just offer early retirement for 50+ or voluntary severance packages. I think they would be surprised how many people take the deal.

@193 you're right it is exhausting. Maybe leadership should reassure us as weve been asking for over a year. Our leaders are awful and don't know how to motivate us. A little job security would go a long way

@19z KTD did not get any announcement but welcome to our world. Been dealing with India for over a decade. The onshore folks are decent, and nice people. The offshore folks don't even understand how computers work

There was a last minute manager meeting scheduled Monday around 3.

Got my merit increase of 2.7%, lowest ever in 20 years. Inflation is 3.5%. I was told everyone is feeling it

The new Associate Communications email is out.

Fantastic news! It looks like they're going to start hiring in Bangalore, India this summer! With their first initiative starting in the fall.
It'll be so nice to work with our new employees in INDIA!!!!! How EXCITING, I"m sure they'll bring some really good KR qualities and enhance the CULTURE in office.

The above is sarcasm of course. KR can get BENT. The current leadership wants to fire us to appease the shareholders after years of TERRIBLE decisions at their level.

I don't see why they would layoff until everyone finishes updating their objectives and growth plan. Seems like a great datasource to feed to copilot for further recommendations for consolidation.

Dead clock is right twice a day. Will there be layoffs, eventually.

The fake news is exhausting. It is now July and people have been talking about layoffs since December of last year.

If you have information, don't name your source but give us more information oppose to breadcrumbs

Hearing there will be a Hunger Games style layoff process where they will be choosing one leader from each org to go to battle in Washington park.

When will KCC begin operations? This has been talked about for many years, and then they moved on.

The scary thing is the amount of people that don’t recognize when AI is wrong. You get inexperienced people vibe-coding solutions thinking they are geniuses only to find it is a maintenance nightmare and impossible to fix bugs and will require a complete rewrite to fix. Execs don’t have any idea the amount of money that is being burned for little to no return on investment.

AI is a total joke. More wrong than right, I'd love to see it replace 10% of our engineers. Would fail spectacularly

Let them use AI and let them use Indians.
One day they will learn why that's a bad idea.
Remember, this company doesn't care about you or your family.
At one point they did.... but now it's ran by greed and clueless middle management.
It was quite revealing when they answered ZERO questions from chat today.

They’re not going to run themselves into the ground, they’re trying to run everyone out so they don’t have to pay people.
