We have managers who have no idea what they're doing yet they insist on micromanaging every step of our work. You can just imagine how well that works out. To say it's counterproductive would be an understatement. Lay off all the useless managers and see productivity skyrocket.

here’s the thing: if we keep making room for toxic behavior, keep accepting it as “just how it is,” we’re going to watch decent people get pushed out and replaced by people who thrive in that environment. The workplace you know now won’t look the same. So congrats in advance to anyone still defending it.
@1k3 in fintech that goes double
@jr The point is things can be bad in other ways. Not to accept it.
Fiserv will usually shackle your wrists for 8 hours a day, but you can go home at the end of it and coworkers are decent. In another place, it can be even more political with not great people as your coworkers.
But you shouldn't accept it, that's a different statement all together. Strive for better, but don't be silly and assume most corporate American companies in general are not also glorified shitholes in their own way.
@jn no, whats the point your trying to make here? That we’ll be stuck here in this toxic culture where as managers like you get to walk all over us? Just accept things as they’re…? 🤔
Has anyone been somewhere that is the opposite with zero management, and no collaboration allowed?
They are all bad at this place. I drink to be happy until I can get out of here. I'm job grade 11 and haven't had a promotion in four years yet my manager does not know how to do his job and he is a job grade 14 making 8x.
I'm Senior Lead Vice Director President of Business Workflow Operations Development and I ensure my team works with cross group functionality by monitoring their Sapience daily. My job is very critical, please don't lay me off.
It’s a clown show.
My manager who refuses to hire employees & instead cuts costs by only using used parts is a frugal or cost-cutting. He cannibalizing / salvaging to keep a tight grip on operations cost. Are department has become a Scrap-yard for the Salvage manager, solely rely on salvaged or junkyard for inventory. I guess his wife was right he is a cheap man.
Micromanaging is the only skill some managers seem to have. How else would they justify their paycheck and so-called expertise? I do see the value good managers bring, recognizing everyone’s skills and where they fit on the team, and keeping people motivated and focused on the goal. But at a place like Fiserv, where goals (and leadership) are constantly shifting, that kind of steady guidance rarely happens. Wouldn’t it be a dream to work in a flat, egalitarian structure instead? Instead we have pretentious levels of EVPs, SVPs, and VPs, all just trying to look more important than they actually are.
