Verizon Sells Stores, Cuts Staff

Verizon is selling 274 retail locations as part of a restructuring effort. This move will also result in the layoff of approximately 500 corporate employees. These actions are expected to impact around 3,000 retail and corporate staff in total. Following the sale, Verizon will retain ownership of 1,000 stores. This follows previous job cuts announced by the company.

Maybe they will invest in maintaining their cell towers that leave customers in urban areas in SOS mode for hours and then two bars of service for a while before returning to SOS mode. This is not the first time there have been cell service outages affecting elderly customers, who abandoned their land line service due to poor reliability after rain events.
