Is there a way to go above your managers head to be voluntarily laid off? I’m for sure leaving at the end of August regardless without telling anyone but it sure would be nice to get a piece of the severance cake.
Thank you

@f8 its the same in 2026. 25-20-25 is the sh-t being pushed
If you are on a PIP or voluntarily get laid off, you will get 2-3 months “severance”.
If you lawyer up, you will get more (on a PIP).
In 2025, it was 25% below. Horrible environment, only to make a handful more wealthy.
Managers at higher levels are being forced to mark 15 percent of their staff at below meets. You should approach your manager; he or she might welcome your willingness to be marked below expectations to cover that mandate, but you might have to stay longer, maybe until early 2027 to get any kind of payout. If you are lucky, it will be an additional 2 months. Some managers have been able to pull of the actual one-year if you are qualified, but there is definitely a program underfoot to scuttle their own policies.
OP
You try that and you will get fired for incompetence. They will know you want out and make life intolerable.
There is no such thing as ‘severence’ any more.
Agreed. Those days are gone.
@OP unfortunately I think those days are over.
Higher ups want you to leave without having to pay you severance or risk getting sued for illegal termination.
Employees are just expenses now.
