Are EchoStar employees still calling themselves “disruptors”?. The pay TV business is bankrupt, satellite TV is dying, Sling isn’t competitive, the wireless strategy has been abandoned, and Hughes is under pressure… what exactly are you disrupting? I have an offer but I am wondering if it’s even worth taking

@v1 I agree. Charlie is mesmerized by his $30B or so from the spectrum sale that he’s not willing to let a penny go to save Dish or Hughes from bankruptcy. The people are generally nice but the company policies are antiquated, mean, and cold. They want you to use AI to make operations more automated and smart, and then let you go in the most insensitive way. Do you want to work for a company, owned by a person who does not bet on his own people?
@a9, maybe at Hughes, but I've seen plenty of people "celebrating" their new positions at Dish on LinkedIn. No doubt HR "strongly encourages" them to make the posts, as they all seem to be boilerplate.
Do it only as a paycheck to bridge to your next job. If your offer is at Hughes, chances are they are seeing more layoffs and a potential sell-off between now and the end of the year.
If your offer is at Dish/EchoStar, as others have said, the true innovation is dead. The company is keeping status quo. They're cannibalizing what they can from Hughes before selling it.

If you have any other options, don't take the offer.
In practice, echostar is really good at fire drills. So you will spend all day refreshing your inbox (gotta be badged in 42.5 hrs/week, no matter what); then you'll get a Most Urgent Project Ever We Expect You To Work Whatever It Takes To Get It Done, you'll bust your butt for a couple 80 hr weeks, and then the project will be cancelled anyway in favor of the Next Big Thing.
