For some months, yes, if some means 2 or 3

I expect 200 to 300 more stores to be sold off by the end of the year, bringing the total down to 700-800, to achieve the announced $5bn OpEx savings this year.

In reality they need to overcompensate the 5bn to account for the equalization payment to BT for the JV and also for the severance packages which amount to billions.

@fm VBG is never the place to be. Bloated org charts for an org that doesn’t make any money compared to consumer. Low margin wireline vs consumers high margin wireless segment, despite the churn problems they’re having. Saying this as someone who has worked in both. Culture is also way different. VBG is even more antiquated. I didn’t think that was possible.

@ar I had heard the same from someone in the know. I’m not 100% sure I’m buying that VBG is safe across the board, but it seems like VBG is the place to be right now.

Dan usually announce a major lay off to minimize impact on stock price. I wonder how bad are Q2 numbers.

Nobody can promise “safe for months” because that’s not really how this works anymore. This isn’t a one time cut, it’s a pattern now, restructure, cut, quiet period, repeat. Waiting to find out if you’re safe this quarter just means bracing for the next one.

Here’s the part worth sitting with though: retail and frontline sales might feel like the bottom of the totem pole, but you’re actually one of the only groups in this entire company that’s legally allowed to organize. Most of HQ is titled in a way that strips that right out from under them. So if density is ever going to start anywhere, it has to start with the people on the floor, not the people in the towers. That’s not a small thing. That’s leverage nobody else in this company currently has.

You're delusional. Dan The Hatchet Man 🪓🪓🪓 will keep on slashing employee headcount in order to fudge the numbers and stock price while making millions for himself and the rest of the C-Suite Leaders and probably the Board of Directors as well.
