A meeting ends and these id--t managers think another meeting is needed to follow up the just finished meeting.
How about hiring some competent people then you won't need to have irrelevant meetings wasting everybody's time?

@ag you sure you didnt work for a small company? What OP is describing is the norm, not the exception. This is what big corporate is and has always been. Maybe youve just been shielded from it. I dont know, this has nothing to do with layoffs. If you hate it, just leave, no one at this company cares either way. No one at any large corporation cares.

@ab It is anything but normal behavior. And I have been in the industry for 15+ years. For a leader to schedule a vague meeting without any summary details in the meeting as to the overarching purpose…to then upon the start of tje meeting to put one of their subordinates for who’s well-being that leader is responsible for, well, such behavior can only be categorized as socio-pathological by definition.
New to corporate america i see. This is not unique to this or any large company. Buckle up. Youve got a long a-s way to go since you are apparently new to all this. Should it be this way? Nope. Is it going to change? Nope.

HaHa! I’m just kidding around, attempting to recreate the experience you already had with your leader. I am in total agreement with you that that is strange. Sounds as if your leader is playing head games and trying to rattle you.
Manager: Did you prepare for the meeting today?
Me: No. I am assuming that meeting organizer will tell me what they want/need me to do when we have the meeting.
Manager: let’s meet to discuss a game plan for said meeting.
Me: I still don’t even know what the upcoming meeting is about.
(In my head. Why do I need to deal very from my actual work right now to try and figure out what is going to be asked in a meeting later today? Won’t it be clear after the meeting today what the organizers needs? If organizer wanted me to go rework, wouldn’t that be in meeting invite. WTF is wrong with everyone.
Meeting to talk about meetings is the Elevance way. Managers and directors do this meeting thing on purpose I think to just say I’m double and triple booked to sound important. Don’t get me started on PowerPoint craziness.
