@af He is meager but mostly su-ks

During Dan Schulman's final five years as CEO of PayPal, the company saw massive pandemic-era revenue growth followed by a sharp post-pandemic market correction and his eventual announcement in early 2023 to step down by the end of that year.

Critics, including former PayPal executive David Marcus, noted that under Schulman, the company shifted from a "product-led" culture to a "financially-led" one. As a result, PayPal lost significant market share to nimbler tech competitors like Apple Pay and modern checkout alternatives.

The same is happening at Verizon right now, financial engineering.

Since October 2025, the S&P 500 has outperformed Verizon significantly, gaining roughly 11% compared to Verizon's flat-to-negative price movement.

5-Year Share Price Comparison

T-Mobile (TMUS): Gained +18.33%. Growth was driven by its early lead in 5G integration and a business model historically focused on customer expansion rather than heavy dividend payouts.

AT&T (T): Gained +8.46%. Recovered over the last two years following its costly WarnerMedia spin-off and a painful dividend reduction.

Verizon (VZ): Dropped -21.44%. Suffered from heavy debt servicing costs and massive 5G infrastructure investments.
