Too many dead weight G10+ doing G7 work. Don't even get me started on fellows.

The company-defined role of G10+ is to create initiatives for G7s. There are PEs who skip that and work on getting products done on time, and they get slapped for not creating enough powerpoints. That’s one of the bigger problems. By G10 you know what needs to be done, you should be able to ignore the junk and red tape, and just be allowed to cook
Don't downgrade the G10's--lay some off and have the remainder reconfigure their workflow as everyone below them has had to do! I don't see as many G10's doing G7 work as I see G10+'s pawning off their work on G7's and G8's who are trying to keep their jobs. With all the layoffs--job descriptions are constantly evolving to pick up the slack without any consideration for it.
I know this has been said so many times before, but the whole culture has to change, and this change has to be led by someone who sees the link between culture/cooperative environment and productivity.
You realize that downgrading deadweight just makes it worse?
Change their role to be hands on work. Only allowed 3 page powerpoints. they have so much unvested stock they won't leave.
biggest thing is to change the retirement RSU acceleration rules to no acceleration based on years of service. that will flush out the non performers and the rest and vest ones.
