The point is to leave gracefully while you can... before you are forced and have nothing else in place. How is this hard to understand?

This is the worst advice you can ever give to someone.
No, Stay as long as you don't have a better place to go to, enjoy the good pay and benefit. Don't feel bad if you are picked for a RIF, enjoy the payout instead.
