JAX Office Design - not OSHA approved!

So many people have complained about the Jacksonville office and the new open floor plan being miserable and uncomfortable due to the high glare/lights in your peripheral vision, and the freezing temperatures in the office causing folks to have to step outside throughout the day to warm up! I WISH my band 2 would call and ask why I’m not going back into the office. Our team has open tickets and constantly being told by facilities that everything is OSHA approved… it’s NOT!

OSHA requires that a workspace environment be specifically organized to reduce glare and excessive lighting, which can result in eye strain and headaches.

OSHA states that light diffusers should be used on computer screens to limit glare and direct light.

Desks should be positioned in such a way that ensures ceiling lights are parallel to workers lines of sight! They’re definitely not!!

Facilities is blowing smoke up our @$$ and I’m done. They can stop telling lies when we clearly experience the miserable conditions and have expressed our concerns until our literal bodies are numb from the freezing cold space!

I always associate setting the AC just above freezing with Texas. I didn't know they do that in Fla too!

At least you have new equipment and furniture… Over here at Deer Lake it’s a total dilapidated dump with peeling desks, coffee stains, mismatched carpet and dead roaches everywhere.

Have you tried making Seafood Pho at work?

I have a full heavy blanket and coat I have to use most days. It feels like it's 60 and for me that's freezing indoors when I'm sitting there on webex calls all day. They really seem to not care at all it's miserable.

Can we please add that the desks are also NOT ERGO! In order for my arms to extend straight towards the mouse and keyboard, my chair has to be so high that my feet dangle and don’t touch the floor.. and my feet literally go numb. It’s so uncomfortable.

Every single person on your team/in the space should open a facilities ticket today. . And every time they close it with the BS excuse, open another!

Seriously!! it’s insane that we have to bundle up to come into the office in Florida! I even see people with blankets!

But what’s even worse are the brightest lights over our desks as if it’s a damn airport or operating room! My head is pounding the moment I walk in.. very interesting (and mad) to realize that it’s not just me!

Bring a digital thermometer and record temperature readings throughout the day onto a spreadsheet. Provide them with data. In the meantime, wearing a jacket or vest with long sleeves would work wonders. Kind of crazy to have to do in FL lol.

I never used to have so much eye strain and feel so exhausted until sitting in the newly designed space 3 days a week. It literally feels like the expression “when he-l freezes over”.
