Is this your first job ever working on the books? Most people learn how to figure and set withholding from 16 to 18 years old.

It is a serious question, not a knock.

Dude, the guy that takes out the trash and cleans the bathrooms is a VP of sanitation.

Don’t believe it? Check it out.

Typical of this dump. Give you $1000, but take away much more than that via crummy raises if any and delaying the 401(k) match by 15 months.

1000 - 6000 = -5k in the hole.

Only at the Bank do people complain about totally free money because they need to pay income tax on it. It’s a really nice gesture and it sure helps out at this time of year.

@agwg US based employees, non-exempt, rated Met expectations or higher at year end.

Across emea colleagues specifically IRL based no sign of this. What's the criteria or markers for this

On the topic of 71.8% income held in taxes

For the VIP points / rewards awarded, the tax component is always (it was in my case) paid by the firm.. If it is 100 points you do really get 100$ (slightly more or less - depends upon what your filing status and exemptions).

100% opposite to the RSUs (10 shares). There we paid taxes for the units which we can realize only after 3 years.

@7plm

It this is true, then you are under withholding your taxes. Definitely change your withholding in the HR Portal. Although it’s smarter to owe money to the government, it sure doesn’t feel that way if you weren’t expecting to owe taxes next year.

That wasn't their only lie. I had an extra line item on my pay stub to cover the extra taxes; so my net pay was within a few pennies of what it normally would be.

@7tbq
Who pays 71.8% of income in taxes?
So why post a blatant lie on this forum?
And this is a problem in this forum where folks just provide false information and think it is fun. Boomer sadists.

This award for Non-exempt This also implies that they are not making big money.
Assume someone is paid in high 300s the tax (additional ) would be

  1. No SSN Tax (as they would have maxed out 160k)
  2. Medicare and Medicare supplement which is 1.45 + 0.38 ~ 2%
  3. Fed Tax at highest bracket (single with zero exemptions) - table will say less but keep it at 40%
  4. NY State taxes - another 8% (once again tables will make it smaller amount )

That, at the highest level, adds to 50% or less. Not 71.8%

Nothing like that in my paystub either.

Guess all the hard work this year wasn’t appreciated

That’s $282 more than most of us got.

Just looked at my paystub for this Friday - $1000 “award” - paid $718 in taxes on it. Thanks for the $282 bonus.

This should have been given to all non executive positions. It wasn't based on performance so not fair that some didn't receive due to exempt status

When you find yourself whining about the horrors of free Reserved stock units on a layoff board you have really lost touch. If you have too much wealth please donate your RSUs to someone who could use them.

You’re now supposed to make your own goals earlier in the year. I personally disagree with this approach. When I managed teams I set clear goals for all of my directs and we discussed progress throughout the year.

Now it’s even worse being asked to rate your manager. I’m sorry, I refuse to rate my manager because it is up to him to rate me.

@1qzv

I think that the blame for the morale problem is shared equally between employees and leadership.

It you read this forum, where nobody has a reason to lie, you can clearly see that employees went postal from the time that the Bank was trying to get them to return to Office continuing to this day. Certainly HR and likely more BK employees review this site.

Commuting to work is utter normalcy. I personally believe that employees who want to work from home should be honest and take the high road by interviewing for fully remote positions. Right now they are essentially stealing from coworkers when they make their own rules.

Nothing for me. My annual was meets and one exceeds. I regularly take on extra work for the team as well as work on various projects outside of the scope of my position and title. I have not asked anyone else on the team (but heard from someone who did get it) if they received an email or not, because I would not want any of the deserving people I work with to feel as underappreciated as I do.

Nope. Never received one. Got 3/4 stars on all categories on my year end reviews. Had all very positive remarks..Have taken on a more expansive role over the last 16 months on my team. Don’t know if anyone who received this email though.

My partial was for “goal” I didn’t even have any assigned by my manager! Everything they threw at me I accomplished and when they did year end they said “well you haven’t been with us in the department that long” —- so everything else was MEETS except that one - think I’m going to dispute it anyway because if you get a partial in ANY category you will automatically be deemed partial so it’s wrong in all aspects- mgmt dropped the ball on that IMO. I always work my tail off and cover when needed change hours as needed and even trained someone and I’ve only been doing the new job since end of July!!!

Typical of this dump.

They “give you “ $1000 while taking away much more than that…such as the 401k match timing. So it’s a net loss for you.

Kind of like when they “gave” those couple shares of stock…

Congratulations to all those who worked hard and received this recognition. I am however disappointed in the company’s strategy here. I’ve previously advocated that ALL employees should be eligible for a bonus based on performance. However, I believe that forced rankings to dilute this pool is poor leadership. This continues to highlight the problem with favoritism at the bank.
And before anyone comments, yes, I worked my a$$ off all year and received a partial in one category so I got nothing.

Emails are to be sent out by or on the 22nd. So if you don't receive one by tomorrow then you're probably not getting the award

Depends on which item of the 4 you were marked as partial. Only 2 count towards the hr requirement.. so if it was one of the two that do count I don't think you'll be receiving it unfortunately.

I received MET on YEAR END but they marked one as PARTIAL due to time in the department (recently joined the team) so does anyone know if this effed me on the VIP Award because it’s not something I could control and that would be seriously cr-ppy…if that’s the case, I’m definitely going to use my bereavement days I was entitled to - hate to be THAT way but jeesh…

Yes 1000 points equal 1000 dollars.

This was only for non exempt people who were rated above partial on their year end reviews. It's in the faq

Pro tip - if the company continuous to treat people like cr-p , the company will continue having trouble getting & retaining talent & the talent they do get will not be highly engaged or invested in the company

Peoples… you are so jaded… so boorish. It’s a nice little winter pick me up. But go on… make it into simply one more reason to hate people when they’re trying to get you engaged.

The more that I read here on the chasm between Senior management and lower grade workers the more that I side with Robin. Todd may have spoiled you with his 2 1/2 year no layoff era, but it’s Robin’s job to return to normalcy and it’s all of our jobs to help him.

If you disagree with management take the high road, search for another job and leave. But here’s a pro tip… with your attitudes you’ll have the same issues wherever you land.
