Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

It is time to move on!

Plenty of people are complaining about the state of affairs at WFM. Basically, WFM has gone too far in its misery to come back. It is not & will never be the company it was, so best piece of advice GET THE F--- OUT! It's over, it is just another sh--ty retailer. You can keep complaining and stay in the WFM vortex of incompetency & senseless politics where advancement is not based on meritocracy or just move on to better pastures.

Why would you want to stay in place where your job is being eliminated & the workload is getting heavier? Most of all, have you guys noticed how none of those regional have lost their jobs?

The snake should be cut at the head!

How come regional coordinators never face any "accountability" for bad ideas and execution? Wasting huge amounts of inventory or bad merchandising plans?? It aint the tl's making those planograms or allocating pallets of overpriced product that cant sell at all locations..these guys at regional are given free passes to eff the feefff up all the time

Well said in the above comments! I think we all know WFM is a thing of the past and nothing no matter what is going to get better.

I totally agree about our coordinators they need to go!!!!

they are useless and they don't give a damn about us at store level. All they want to do is say and act like they know what they are talking about and that they care.

WFM in general doesn't care about us we are expendable people!! They want us all gone so they can hire staff at min. wage and customer service is and will be a thing of the past.

I have my resume out there and i would suggest you all do the same. Oh and by the way. I heard that there is no more severeance for anyone. We are all geting scewed over. Especially the ones that have been there forever. Thanks for the slap in the face WFM!!!!! You losers! You'll get what's coming to you!

In the UK region, coordinators, along with just about everyone in the regional office was made redundant, as they say in UK---laid off in other words. No one's job is safe, except for the very place where they most need to let some people go, namely global!

At my store the leadership are very open to discuss concerns that many express here on this site. I can assure you that they (leadership) are certainly aware that tms cannot meet current expectations set by our own high standards because we lack the labor to do so. No one in my store is being written up for performance issues at all. All in all we seem to have a very understanding leadership team. I am very sorry for those of you that are experiencing the opposite in their stores.

Teams are going to continue to combine and I think that, plus less buyers are the only real thing on the horizon. Regional teams will begin combining soon as well.

And as far as I can see at my store and what I know of the Regional teams everyone who currently works at WFM are overworked and understaffed. So everyone is feeling the burn.

I am very concerned about my future with WFM..I am also glad to see that change is finally happening within the company because the old business model is obviously not making us the money it use to. If WFM can't make money then I won't be able to work there. Personally, I want to work there as long as possible...they've been good to me like a mean step parent at times...but that's not too bad coming from a wall street owned concept that continues to flourish throughout the industry....I want my old Whole Foods back too....Please, privitize this bad puppy!

The coordinators should have been the first ones to be canned. They are a bunch of incompetent morons throughout the regions. Programs that never work out smoothly and they are never helpful or respectful. Just a bunch of morons who love to talk down to TMs in the trenches & not even understanding the challenges TMs encounter at the store level. Everybody has an opinion but it never seem to match to the global vision.

For people who actually prefer this type of job, it's easier said than done. I agree WFM is changing for the worse, but try and sympathize with the people who choose to stay. At least in my my area, WFM pays well above the typical wage for retail and food service (not that that's a particularly high standard to meet). For example, there is a "local" natural market in town with two locations, but they pay less than WFM and are known to be poorly managed. Not everyone has a better option, unfortunately. It's not too late to unionize, however.

Heard rumors of coordinators getting canned, so I think next round will hit them. Your post is dead on. The good days aren't coming back. For a retail job, I think Whole Foods is ok..but it is no longer a place you can make a career.
