So management is dangling the carrot with an oxymoron. They will resize and bring efficiencies, but again they will rehire the ones they are firing. You need lot and lot of courage and soul to speak such gibberish to fool the employees and still... — read more
Just 2 Weeks to Flatten the Curve
If there really is a 75% redundancy across the tech industry, how many more layoffs in the next 6 months?
Red flags
No need to worry ahead of time, but still, the anxiety is astronomical. Are there any red flags, subtle signs by which a person can know that he or she will be cut?
No layoff’s with changes in China staff
Since all US companies are supposed to leave China operations, companies will already run off shortage. And with Chips act, more resources are required here than anywhere else. So don’t expect any layoff
The sneakiest way to do this
If I was the evil Intel I would do the layoff prior to 11/15 so that all 8 weeks of redeployment would take place in 2022. Meaning no annual bonuses (EB) paid to anyone impacted. Although they’d still get the Q4 QPB (if there is one). Who wants to... — read more
Server group kicking A$$
Congrats to Server group for making no profits with $3.2B revenue. How did you accomplish this? Others need to learn from you.
Cold and brutal: Right Size will be a slow ki-l
Intel this time adopted a grand policy unlike earlier ones. Smart indeed!!! They will ki-l by slow poison. Everyday we will be waiting to know that I may be called any moment to be hanged and everyday you do not get called you will start getting... — read more
Anxiety
All the word play and uncertainty is giving me chronic anxiety, I have lost my sleep and peace of mind, can’t focus on work. It’s too much to handle :(
Keyword is right size
The wonderful thing about management is that they have the greatest ability to use old words in a new context. This time they used right size as an euphemism for telling us that they are coming to let us go gracefully. And the best part of this is... — read more
Pat and Team knew this coming from very long
In Yesterday's all hands when Pat was asked why over hiring was done in the last year, he shamelessly responded that they never knew revenue will fall from 76B to 65B. Oh what an argument! When revenue spiked by 20% during COVID, they did not know... — read more
APB cut 50%?
Is that true??
Looks like everyone is safe until next quarter :)
Usually layoffs are announced when announcing quarterly results, in this case there were no announcements so it is likely there will be no layoffs this quarter.
sick leaves
In my group , engineers and FLMs have been taking sick leaves in a unexpectedly high rate since last month. Is there a new virus affecting employees ?
Biggest cost reduction should not come from its people cost (linkedin post)
By 2025, #Intel plans to #eliminate up to $10 billion in costs annually by restructuring its operations and #sales departments and focused on the development of domestic foundries. Intel is in a bad situation right now. Since the $280 billion... — read more
What if Musk bought Intel?
"Musk terminated Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde, according to people familiar with the matter."
Why not cutting dividends?
Why intel not adjusting dividends?
Pat and ELT - too clever and shrewd . Still few open questions
Genius Pat and Team. At the end of the day what did we get? We do not know whether in the name of restructuring and redeployment how many will be laid off. It can be 5K, 15K, 25K, 30K just not 20K. Till end of Q1 maybe more we will live a... — read more

Has there been any change for 2023 annual rewards process?
Light on specifics….
Here’s what I actually heard: 1- “No set criteria” So this means they will keep family and friends vs performance? 2- This new scheme. So what they are actually saying is well you have a couple of months to find work but no severance. So this... — read more
Layer off. Is the 9 weeks paid
If fired/ laid off, is the 9 weeks to find a new job internal/external paid?
Pat would lead intel to vmw fate
Vmw went down hill under his leadership. Woke go broke. Invented basically nothing other than SKU bundling.
No imminent layoff guys. Cheer!!
Pat is busy spending his $170m paycheck so he doesn't have time for layoff. No communication about number. It would be spread throughout 2023. First round would be by Q1 23 end. Enjoy your Christmas break.
Count of employees in central group?
Does anyone know rough count in engineering v/s rest of engineering at intel?
Question for Intel retirees
Obviously past behavior is no indication of what Intel might do in the future, but a common retirement strategy was to wait until after stock grants, since with rule of 60 you were pretty much immediately vesting if you have 20+ years of service. My... — read more
Only 3-5 more months of waiting family
Per Christi, communications for effected family members will happen “no later than Q1” for “this round” (Freudian slip?). Are they intentionally dragging this out to encourage family members to self select for the separation package (not VSP)? All... — read more
Good folks are just going to leave !
This is crazy. why it is taking so long to take these actions. Plus the action around rewards. Man, why would one stay at this company. So for folks who are not impacted, will have to work more at less rewards. What ! Doesnt make sense. — read more
VSP
Is the vsp tool open yet.
Surviving = prolonging the agony
I pray for getting laid off. Reason: things are probably going to get much worse from now on at Intel. No high hopes that everything will be better. Surviving these cuts is just prolonging the agony until the next cuts.
Mac is up 25% year on year
What PC slowdown? Too bad Win-Intel can’t make a good laptop.
If the manager promised that you would be safe...
would you believe him?
A great day to be a shareholder
A nice 5% jump after earning. Thanks, PG!
3B translated to 20k jobs
My manager said they bill about $150k per employee for budgeting. This translates to about $3B/150k = approx 20,000 jobs. There arent 20k people in SMG. Maybe 5-8k in SMG. So there will be cuts across all groups. This looks bad.
$10B in aggregate savings by EOY 2025
So for those that survive this round, we get three more years of cost cutting, project elimination, outsourcing, and fear+paranoia. Just hope I last long enough to weather the economic storm and escape on the other side. Sounds like a rough two years... — read more

Which BU’s will be affected
Has anyone heard rumors specifically which BU’s will targeted most for these layoffs? Or is the plan to just skim some off the top of each one?
New Hire
I am a new hire (January ‘22) so this is my first go-around. Realistically, what are my chances of getting the axe?
All company meeting
I have a feeling the all company will be full of fluff with no concrete information though the actual layoffs may be deep and brutal. They might downplay the layoffs and focus on ego boosting delusions of IDM2.0
