What would happen if an employee offered to get laid off? I dont understand why they dont have sign ups for lay offs.

I was laid off while on short term disability. This company does not care about it's employees. More upper management than executers. A company of good ole boy slaps on the back and bringing in their buddies for high paying positions!!!

We have leaders that have been let go, but the remaining leaders have not brought this to the teams attention. Why would they not announce it to the team? Is this a sign a lay off may hit our team soon?
