I finally did it. Put in my notice on Monday, walked out the door, and didn't look back. I didn't even give a two week's notice. I don't plan to be back so I don't care if I burnt any bridges. I watched nepotism get promoted and talent get ignored for years. Enough is enough.

@bv are you talking like defense kinda jobs? I don't know that I want to do those
@b0 It's all in how you frame it. Many people don't even know what Teradata is. If you spent all of your time working on the database though you may find that you have few relevant skills for the job market. That said, if you're an engineer working in C/C++, are located in and interested in staying in the SD area then you could probably look at opportunities in embedded shops — there seemed to be a lot of them in the area when I looked. You will likely have to go back into an office, but who cares? At least then you don't have to listen to people yelling at each other from across the globe at 7am every morning before you have even had the chance to shower.
Things will get better once you get a new job. Unfortunately you'll soon discover that people literally laugh at Teradata on your resume. So don't expect it to open any doors for you.
