I've come to realize that no matter how hard you work or how much you care, you're just a number to the people running this place. It took me a while to accept that, but once I did, I stopped taking things so personally. It's actually liberating.

@cr My director knew me. But my problem was they had someone with my skillset at Sprint who was in Overland Park, and was one rung lower and paid much less because of the Cost of Living differences between OP and Bellevue.
Lots of Bellevue folks I know were treated much the same. That's why everthing's become the New SprinT
I went above and beyond for my regular performance evaluation each and every time for as long as i remember. I deliver results, even worked 10 to 12 hrs, sometimes skipped lunch to prioritize urgent matters/project/ meeting but hey I still got RIF. I thought i have a good track record for my performance since i joined TMUS many years ago. I was told it wasnt my performance. Eventually i found out who else in my team got RIF and what is common denominator. If your director or VP does not know you, you are toast. Consider yourself lucky if you get moved to other team or demoted. It is extremely hard to find a job at this time. Prepare your emergency finance for 1 to 2 years without income. Severence will help for on average a good 6 to 10 months. But hey the guy who goes to office for coffee badging and those who chat for hours at lunch room during work hours….. i heard are still employed……lol.

Except we aren’t numbers. We are people. Rather than “coming to terms with this,” you should fight back against the people running this place and their dehumanizing desire to turn you into a statistic.
