Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

All the LI Activity - bragging, announcing the New Opentext, BIG pay increases

The SLT received HUGE comp increases for the new opentext and many are on LI announcing their promotions and sharing endlessly about their many accomplishments. Others are publicly talking about the new GTM model , clearly excited about their new raises, and some about their company paid I'm sure relocations.

It is stunning because ALL of these people have failed in their previous roles. Meanwhile, many employees announcing their entire teams were let go, the very people who were doing what they could.

There has to be some massive incentives on the table for the ELT around results in addition to their new larger salaries. It's as if they are giddy in their LI posts.

Also, completely inappropriate and poor business sense. LI is not intended for bragging. Oh, and none of them have any significant writing skills.

OpenText looks so foolish right now on LI. A company this size should have a coordinated LI plan.

@fj I've never been in sales, but have been in sales support a few times and have seen this same thing happen. The company is taking on water, laying off talent. New FY, new excitement, but they've re-striped the field for the sales force after laying off a ton of it.

The meat-eaters that are left size up their new plan and say "pfffft! not making any money here this year" and exit the stage. Those that are left and those they hire lack the skill and the contact list to make anywhere near the quota.

God help you guys in BN. It's a mystery to me how you sell any of this stuff. When my company was assimilated I looked all over the website trying to figure out how OT makes money. All I saw in BN was junk. An IT junkyard not filled with gold, but rust.

I have a new territory and they assigned me some loser accounts. Now I have to sell this BN product line which is a dinosaur and I have no baseline. The bloke that was over this group parachuted to some other ELT role probably laughing at all of us now...sitting on the beach on European holiday..the new VP did 10 percent of his number last year and has big plans for us...Oh Canada..the third best software company in the great white north..its the Titanic and I need a raft...can't wait to get out..off to SKO next week, hopefully my last phone interview Tuesday goes well and if so, my offer comes Wednesday so I can skip the rest of the conference to go sightseeing in lovely Toronto..maybe a Blue Jay's game

@ad I agree 100%. This is not strategy; it is desperation wearing a suit and hiding behind PowerPoint.

The company has burned through talent, credibility, excuses, and layoffs, yet somehow preserved the people who repeatedly made the disastrous decisions. That is not transformation; it is failure with better branding.

The choices are now obvious: sell the wreckage for whatever anyone will pay, or finally clear out the boardroom and install competent leadership.

The tragedy is that high-performing employees were sacrificed while the architects of decline kept their titles, bonuses, and microphones.

Arrogance plus stupidity: OpenText’s most consistent leadership framework to date.
