At&t loves a good slogan they can jam down everyone's throats as if that's going to change anything with how terrible the company actually is. Stinkeys "Marketbased Culture" is the latest. "Fast. Friendly. Fixed" is the other and both couldn't be further from reality. Anything to deviate from highlighting the fact that MOST anyone L3 and higher are overpaid, have nothing valuable to contribute and actively waste everyone else's time DAILY. THE ONLY REAL REASON anyone is still working here (and I will say for the majority of people) is the job market is also so trash right now, no one can risk being out of a job for an extended period of time especially if they have homes and families. That whole "just leave" argument is cute though.

@OP , “BS A’Plenty”….fixed it for you.
You can’t have a “market based culture” unless your employees are willing to be high performers…
There’s a few ways to really encourage that type of culture and environment…
- Pay well
- Good benefits (WFH, etc)
- Attract top-tier talent
- Good culture, prestige, be a name people want to work at because you’re making something awesome, or treat your staff well
You can have a couple of these and not others and still have that culture/environment - you don’t have to have all.
Would anyone here say AT&T has ANY of these?
The pay isn’t stellar, it’s just mediocre.
The benefits su-k
They can’t attract top tier talent because no junior with prospects wants to work here.
The culture is dog water.
All the employees hate the executives and management.
I’ve never seen or heard another L3/L4 say anything good about this company when asked outside of work if they’d recommend someone work here.
It’s widely accepted the CEO is a bozo.
T isn’t a prestigious company to work for, it has no impact on your future prospects if it’s on your résumé.
So what makes Stankey think he can institute a “market based culture” if he isn’t willing to pay “market based wages”?
He wants PiP culture without paying pip wages.
People slave away at Amazon because it pays.
People grind away til they can barely stand at Jane Street because the bonuses can buy homes.
People do the tour at Google and forgo life for 5-8 years because it’s prestigious on your resume.
Why would anyone who has the skills to move the needle move across the country and work for T and do 5 day RTO for sub-par benefits and TC?
The only reason the rockstars who carry technical teams are still here is because the job market su-ks…as soon as that swings back (and it will) everyone is gonna jump ship.
My slogan, do it to them before they do it to you.
The company will default with the mass exodus when the job market recovers
Have a Fine AT&T day!!!
